Return of the Snorunt Fortunes

There exists an old superstition that Snorunts bring luck and good fortune to those that treasure them. 'Look into a rich man's past, and you will find a Snorunt there' is something you might hear from older relatives to explain why some of us enjoy more fortune than others.

Well. It turns out those old people are right. Up to a point, at least.

Whether they actually bring good or bad luck themselves or if there is some luck-giving entity that is just very concerned with Snorunt Treatment is something that can be discussed at length, but the fact remains that how you treat a Snorunt can definitely affect your luck in life. And today, characters get to experience that for themselves.





Today, wherever your character may roam, they'll find Snorunts there. Even if they just stay at home, they might find their garden teeming with Snorunts or that the little creatures have somehow managed to get into their kitchen and have turned their fridge into a nice little hang-out. It's almost like a normal swarm, and it is possible for characters to catch the Snorunts if they want, however, unlike a normal swarm, the way your character interacts with the Snorunts will affect their luck for the duration of a month (from the fifth of January to the fifth of February).

Comment on this post with your character, and how they might be dealing with the Snorunts swarming everywhere. Are they ignoring them? Trying to catch them? Will they play with them, and if a Snorunt tries to get into their home, how will they react? Don't worry, we are not looking for an essay, just a line or two is enough.

Based on that, your character will receive one of five fortunes for the coming month. These range from Great Luck, Just a bit Lucky, ??? Luck, Just a bit unlucky, to Great Misfortune and can affect anything from making your character particularly vulnerable to tiny little mishaps or fortunes to actually affecting things like the likeliness of them encountering/breeding a shiny pokemon or how many levels their pokemon can gain.


Mind you though, that these Snorunt are rather unpredictable. What could lead to a great fortune from one Snorunt could be taken as a complete insult by another Snorunt. Like someone once said, life is like a completely randomly decided fortune by some website generator; you never know what you are going to get!

Oh, and as always, this event is entirely optional!

Dirk really needs to start working on his manners!

As a result, Dirk will be experiencing some bad luck throughout the coming month in the form of blue hair. That's it. Nothing absolutely disastrous or life-altering will be happening to him, but his hair? It's just blue. Dye seems to slide right off. If he shaves it, it regrows overnight. His hair is just blue and there is nothing he can do.

He might have to actually wear a hat for real now though..... he can't be seen in public like this. Or in private, for that matter.

Ruin coffee time? They'd never dare to! In fact, the Snorunts are rather pleased to have found someone who appreciates coffee time to the same degree as they do.

As a result, Sandalphon will be experiencing Fantasic Luck during the coming month, in the form of a free shiny roll that will not count towards his normal total.

Riz was not here the last time this happened, so he has no idea what is going on. All he knows is that there is suddenly weird pokemon everywhere and he's just trying to work here! No, stop trying to take that red string, he needs that! Don't mess up those boards, he finally got the clues just right!

For heaven's sake, he's gonna get a broom so he can push them out of his room.

It's not a skeleton Rave, but it is a Snorunt Rave and that is just as good!

As a result, Rainer will be experiencing Fantastic luck. During the rest of the month, both Rainer and her pokemon's constitution will be powerful as all hell. The cold? It won't bother her! All those winter viruses going around? They will summarily be defeated by her amazing immune system! She is powerful, she is glowing.

Her pokemon, meanwhile, will find themselves able to resist status effects much better, halving the chances of coming down with one. This will also extend to any badge challenges she might submit this coming month, so if she does, please remind us of this good bit of fortune!

The Snorunts rather enjoy the play and the treats. And the snowman, well... it's a good effort? She certainly did try!

As a result, Yuzu will be experiencing A Bit of Good Luck during the coming month. For the next month, she'll keep finding various odds and ends in her pockets, almost as if someone is sneaking little gifts into her pockets. The things she finds aren't big or expensive, just a bit of candy when she wasn't expecting it, a few extra coins here or there, or even a berry or two, but it does seem like something out there is trying its best to give her something small to cheer her up every day.

The Snorunts do like the bracelets but the buns are very much not their thing.

As a result, Zeke-- excuse us, Zuke will be experiencing A Bit of bad luck. It's nothing too dreadful for Zack-- Zuke but it seems like all throughout this month, people will just struggle to get his name right. Even people he knows and who have addressed him correctly in the past might find themselves slipping up. They will all be very apologetic about this, and Duke will--

Kirishima probably hasn't allowed himself to think last year's great clothing shrink ( nothing fit him well ) was due to the Snorunts, so when he finds them congregating around the fridge in his shared apartment in Olivine, he'll ask if there's anywhere they're trying to get to. If they are, he'll employ his Frosmoth, Yukishima, to help excort them. If they're just there to... chill... he'll helpfully assist them into the freezer. Help some Pokemon out and possibly prank his roomies? Seems like a win/win. Of course, when the day is actually done and it's cooler outside, he'll usher them to leave.

Sleeping? While there are guests? The Snorunts are shocked and appalled, good sir! Shocked and appalled.

As a result, Cecil will be experiencing Terrible Luck throughout the coming month in the form of getting constant calls, both day and night, to please pay off his student debt. The fact that Cecil neither has student loans nor even a degree here in this world does not dissuade the callers.

He could go into their headquarters and try to clear up the matter, but it might be just a bit complicated.

Oh, these little guys again, huh?

They didn't really seem to understand last year's snowball cookies, but Jane has LOADS of holiday cookies, like an obscene amount and spread available. And for the Snorunts having fun in her yard, they are up for grabs! She'll also see if they need a drink or something if she's around, do they...drink milk? Can she leave milk out for them? Milk and cookies...

Look she can't eat all them cookies herself, might as well give them to little guys who will.

Well, it is a good thing Steven thinks to share his cake! As it so turns out, one of the Snorunts also has its birthday today, and just think of what dreadful fortune might have befallen him if he hadn't.

As a result, Steven will be experiencing Some good Luck throughout this month in the form of small, financial windfalls. He won't be winning any large jackpots, but if he goes shopping, he always finds a small discount on exactly the thing he is purchasing. If he battles any opponents, they will pay out just a bit more than usual. He might even find money just about everywhere. It's not much -- just the equivalent of what you might find between the sofa cushions, but money is money, right?

Now, Narancia has no clue what's up with the Snorunt when they show up, but they are cute, so he'll play with them a bit.

However, his Skarmory, who also has no idea what's with the Snorunt and is chipped, will be urging Narancia to catch a few for his employers. Eventually, with enough urging, he'll catch one just to get the bird off his case. Besides, he does have to hand in a Pokémon every so often, so it'll be fine, probably. Team Rocket doesn't seem to notice if he hands in wild Pokémon instead of stolen ones anyway, so quota met right?

Thace has made an absolute feast of Poffins and Pokemon Curry, and other foods for Steven's birthday so that their impressive rosters of Pokemon can enjoy a lot of food with them. And if they want some of the meal he made specifically for himself and Steven, he'll share that too. He's rather... melancholy at times though. Very much missing his adopted daughter who went home a bit ago. Stopping mid-action to stare sadly at the empty chair at the table and such.

His pokemon will play with them, and possibly take them up to the huge berry garden Thace keeps, and generally be helpful and fun.

And then his Meowstic will ask them if they've ever found out anything about human eggs on their travels.

Kiri remembers the Snorunts! And the month of Spinda...protection.

She also knows more about Pokemon this year, and that Snorunt can turn into a ghost-type on evolving. So at some point she'll try to catch the very best of the bunch so she can breed more cool ghosts for big brother Steven.

In the meantime, she'll play with them as only a 5-yo can, and sing and mimic (a lot less than last year) and let out her ice-types to enjoy the winter weather with the snorunts.

Snow buddies!!! Chip is happy to play with the Snorunts again, and brings out Crimbles to join them. Look, guys, your friend got big!! And super strong!! Hope the rest of the house doesn't mind a small stampede--

The Snorunts love the observatory and being held up to peer through the scope. Unfortunately, that is where everything goes wrong. They are so enamoured by the stars that they want to go there immediately which, well, isn't possible.

And despite the fact that this is not Shiro's fault at all, their ire turns to him.

As a result, Shiro will be experiencing Very Bad Luck throughout the month. This will come in the form of being unable to tell a lie. He can certainly still say untrue things if he really focuses on it, but they won't have much power of conviction. And if he is not really thinking about it? Those truths are just going to slip out of there without even noticing.

As a result, Shadowmaru will be experiencing Very Good Luck throughout the month. This will result in Shadowmaru not just experiencing a good hair day, he'll be experiencing a good hair month.

For, it is true, no matter what Shadowmaru does in January, no matter whether it rains or shines, or if there are hurricanes even, Shadowmaru's hair will be effortlessly perfect. He'll wake up looking like a movie star. People on the street will be complimenting him and begging him for his secrets.

He's just got really good hair, y'all.

Oh no. Not only are these little jerks back, but Chip just opened the door to them and now they’re everywhere inside the house. Felix is not pleased. (With the Snorunts. He can’t be mad at Chip.)

He is going to sic his many Fighting Pokémon and his Christmas Houndour on this Snorunt stampede to battle them. Battle every last one of them.

Dedue, blissfully ignorant of last year's shenanigans, will have no idea why anyone would be so upset about these creatures hanging around. He'll offer to make them some food, if they'd like, and will try to keep them away from Felix's wrath.

Sandalphon silently captures one of the coffee-loving Snorunts, because none of his other Pokémon likes it and he needs a poké-friend who does.

The Snorunts just love playing with Eri. They really, really love it. Unfortunately, that also means that when she finally just falls asleep, they are a little upset. They weren't done playing yet!

As a result, Eri will be experiencing A bit of bad luck this month. For some reason, her long hair just seems to be a magnet for things to get stuck in there -- branches, leaves, gum, it doesn't matter how careful Eri is, by the end of the day, she'll have to pick something out of there.

Rose loves the Snorunts and the Snorunts love Rose! How could they not?

As a result, Rose will be experiencing Very Good Luck this month. At some point during the month, one of the eggs she breeds will hatch into a shiny pokemon, even if the parents of said egg are not shiny at all. It shouldn't be able to happen, and yet, it's just a special treat.

Last time Emet-Selch dealt with these little rapscallions they cursed his tree, so he is less than pleased to find them once again in his presence. Which means when he sees them playing around in his kitchen, making a mess of things, he gestures for his Boltund to retrieve them and remove them. Holding the door open as the speedy canine grabs them by their little cloaks and tosses them out, Emet firmly closing the door behind them.

The Snorunts enjoy Ochako's company. And the cool breezes and chilly drinks but the fact that she is not immediately rushing to catch one of them does make the Snorunts feel a little... neglected. Are they... are they not cute enough?

As a result, Ochako is going to experience some ??? Luck in the coming month, in the form of not one, not two, but ten secret admirers. Is it because Valentine's day is just a month away? Did she do something special with her hair? Either way, Ochako will be receiving love notes and little gifts from ten secret admirers (both girls and boys), all of which seem perfectly friendly and sweet, but, it's a lot. A lot.
