Up in the sky FAQ

Along with Lance's post on the gear, we've prepared a little info post for you to navigate this mini-event.

Is Lance okay?
In general? No. Related to him getting champion-napped by a bird? Yes, he'll be okay.

Okay, so what exactly is happening?
Well, what we can currently say is this --

As of March 11th, Hisuian Braviary has been added to the available wild pokemon in VR. In addition, Rufflets can now also evolve to this form. For more information on that, please check here.

However, it seems that whatever was responsible for bringing Hisuian Braviary to these regions, also brought in a bunch of Alpha Hisuian Braviary and, well, they are causing quite a bit of trouble.

What are Alpha Hisuian Braviary?
Alpha pokemon, which are a feature in Pokemon Legends Arceus, are individual pokemon that are both larger, more powerful and more aggressive than regular pokemon of their species. Just imagine that instead of a regular Bidoof, there is a Bidoof the size of a car that also really wants to kill you. That's an Alpha pokemon.

For this event, we are borrowing this concept by unleashing a bunch of Hisuian Braviary that are larger, stronger and more aggressive than regular Hisuian Braviary (which really just want to be left alone) and you get to deal with it. Please. The Pokemon League really needs some help.

What can we do to help?
Like Lance said, the Pokemon League is looking for strong trainers to go out, confront these rampaging pokemon, defeat them in battle and catch them. After catching them, they can be transferred to the Pokemon League at any poke-centre, and each person that was involved in the capture will receive a reward from the Pokemon League.

However, as Lance said, these are very powerful pokemon. They cannot be handled by just one person alone, no matter how good you are. Even our illustrious Pokemon Champion got carried off by one. You will really need a team of at least three or four people to handle catching one. These pokemon are very powerful and have high stamina, so you'll need a few people working together to wear them down in order for someone to catch one.

What's the reward?
Every member involved in the capture will receive P25,000. Each. No, you don't have to share. The Pokemon League is very eager to get all of these pokemon caught and off the streets.

Sweet! How many of these can my character catch?
Realistically, looking at the amount of effort involved in catching one of these, as well as the number of them flying around, your character will only be able to catch one. Listen, the Pokemon League, the gym leaders, you guys, and probably a whole bunch of other strong trainers from this world are trying to catch these pokemon. By the time you've tracked one down, battled it and brought it back to the pokemon centre, they'll all be dealt with.

Still, that's a nice P25,000 you can earn going after one of these.

Okay, so how do we do this? Do we have to sign-up or thread something out?
This event is essentially going to be largely handwaved. Or at least, it will be on our end. With prom preparations in full swing, we are pretty busy and honestly, we trust you guys, so essentially, we'll do this one via an honour system. You won't need to sign-up or turn in some thread proof. If you feel your character would get involved in this and would be able to contribute somehow, feel free to add a cool P25,000 to your character's bank account.

Of course, that doesn't mean you can't thread out things related to this event! Maybe your character is getting harassed by one of these angry birds and needs some help. Maybe your character wants to get some friends together to nab one of these. Maybe you just super want to thread out a four-way pokemon battle thread (you are much braver than we are). Opportunities abound and we give them all a thumbs up from inside our prom preparation bunker.

So, uh, what if my character would like to keep one of these pokemon?
Well, first of all, can your character convince three to four other people to help them in this endeavour, which will be dangerous and will require quite a bit of effort on their parts, without any sort of reward on their end? Because you are not handling this alone, and there is a cool and easy P25,000 waiting for every member if they just hand that bird over to the Pokemon League.

If you can, okay, you now have a big and angry bird. In the end, it's still 'just' a Hisuian Braviary. Because VR is not really a stats focused game, you won't gain any benefit from owning it in terms of winning gym battles or future event battles. We won't stop you from doing this, but again, how are you going to convince other people to help you do this?

What if my character is a rocket who wants to deliver this to Team Rocket?
Excellent question!

Immediately after Lance's message on the gear, every rocket member will receive a message from the admins stating that any rockets who can deliver one of these pokemon to them will not only receive P35,000, they will also be cleared of their Rocket duties for the rest of the month. Team Rocket definitely wants those birds too.

What level are these Hisuian Braviary?
Ah, now that is a bit of a problem. Because these are Alpha pokemon, it is quite difficult to quantify their exact level. They don't exactly seem to match what we would normally go by. If you are wondering what level your pokemon should be before taking on one of these -- let's say at the very minimum bring level 60 pokemon to this battle, the more the better. Don't be surprised if it takes multiple level 60 pokemon to subdue these pokemon. They are that dangerous.

So, where can these Hisuian Braviary be found?
All over!

The Alpha Hisuian Braviary will essentially be flying around all over the place until they are dealt with. They will be present in Kanto, Johto and on the Sevii Islands. Because they are on the move, constantly harassing anyone they see, they don't have fixed locations. If you want, and your character is very unfortunate, one could just show up in their garden.

Basically, we want everybody, regardless of where they are exactly, to have a chance to participate in this event. So feel free to assume there will always be at least one Hisuian Braviary within travelling distance of where your characters are. And considering how much mayhem they are causing, tracking them down shouldn't be too hard. Just ask the Jennies who are hard at work trying to temporarily block off any routes one of these pokemon have been spotted on. If you tell them you are here to help out the Pokemon League, they'll be more than happy to point you in the right direction.

I wanted to ask something that hasn't been covered here yet!
If there are any other questions, just leave them on the post here and we'll get to them ASAP.
