SPECTACULAR CONTEST FAQ

The weather is getting warmer, the sun is setting later...and what's that? Why, it’s time for another contest! This month, we'll be celebrating the arrival of spring with some very floral, grass...y stuff!

What's the theme for this month's contest?
Why, spring and the glory of the natural world! Riegfried and Soy want you (yes, you) to put on a show that shows off all facets of nature--its beauty, its terror...whatever you have up your sleeve! You and your Pokémon will be given all manner of costumes and props to figure out what kind of scene you want to play out that’ll get people ready for spring. The world is your oyster!

In addition to this, of course…there’s a twist!

Gasp! What’s the twist?
Your entry must use at least one Grass type move or feature a Grass type Pokémon. Get creative--the only thing stopping you is your imagination!

How many Pokémon can we use in our entry?
There will be a maximum of two pokemon, however we ask that only one pokemon take the leading role -- that is to say, only this pokemon will be allowed to use moves on stage. The other pokemon may assist in other ways that don't involve using moves, but should be the supporting actor, so to speak.

Where will this contest be held?
Riegfried and Soy will be hosting this contest in the Ilex Forest, a short distance away from the Celebi shrine. The event will be held entirely outdoors, so make sure to bundle up to account for the early March weather. Even if your character isn’t entering the contest, there will be plenty of fun activities and opportunities to mingle with your fellow trainers!

What will the timeline be for this contest?
Good question!

ICly, the contest is taking place on Tuesday, March 14th.

OOCly, we will put up the IC log/submission post on Sunday, March 12th, with the deadline for entries being Saturday, March 18th at 11:59 PM EST

On Sunday, March 19th, we will put up a voting post, which will remain open until Friday, March 24th.

On Saturday, March 25th, results will be posted. This should hopefully give everybody a chance to participate in the contest!

Are there going to be prizes? What can we win?
Prizes will be revealed when results come in, but rest assured that your characters can indeed win something.

How do contests work in VR?
Unlike the games, where there are various categories to participate in, in VR, contests work by trying to match the provided theme (in this case spring/nature) as best as possible.

Once all submissions have been gathered, we will set up a poll, and all players can vote for who they feel is the best in show. Voting will be done similar to Eurovision, in which you can give 12 points to your favorite entry, then 10 points to your second favorite, 9 points to third place, etc etc all the way down to 1 point. Points will be tallied and the person with the highest score wins.

In addition, there will be one secret voting category (which will not be revealed until voting commences). Obviously, the parameters for this category are going to be secret, but it could be something like asking you to choose the most humorous entry or the best use of music.

If it still isn’t clear yet, we encourage you to take a look at our contest tag and check out some of our previous contests.

I have other questions!

These are questions are probably questions with super obvious answers but-

Can anyone prep before they get there or do they have to do the bulk of it there?

If they have to do it there can people make props rather than use the ones they have there / would they have cardboard & paint to make props?

Is there gonna be like a (presumably wooden) stage set up for this or just a clear spot on the ground? If the latter, how much space would be considered to be the "stage"/are there gonna be like... tress growing in the middle of it or such?

OH ALSO since it's outdoors, what time of day would it be happening at?

So if I'm reading this correctly, if a grass type move is heavily featured, then it's fine if the Pokemon using it isn't grass?

Would musical instruments be included among the props or would a trainer have to provide their own?
