We're going to say yes! The evolved gyarados would have slight variations that go with the Magikarp's markings. For example, a pink Magikarp would not turn into a pink Gyarados, BUT the resulting Gyarados might be a lighter, more lavender-y blue than normal. Or a calico Magikarp might turn into a Gyarados with somewhat lighter patches.
