Love and Romance contest FAQ
It's almost time for another contest, and this time, to give everybody plenty of time to prepare, we'll be giving you the information a bit early!
No time to beat around the berry bush -- what did Riegfried mean by ‘a contest meant for two’?
As you all know by now, each contest comes with its own mechanic to keep things fresh and to challenge your characters to think outside the box. And in the case of a romance and love focused contest, well, you can’t get romantic on your own, right?
This means that for this particular contest, every submission requires Two pokemon to participate, each of which will use at least one move during their performance.
To keep the stage from becoming too crowded, in this particular performance, the focus should be on the two pokemon. Your character can appear on stage to hand over any props or provide the music for the performance, but the spotlight should not be on them. Allow your pokemon to tell the story, not your characters!
Yes, we know that asking some people to take a step back from the spotlight is a tall order, but what fun is life without a bit of a challenge!
If this contest requires two pokemon, does that mean we can team up with other players?
It does indeed mean that!
Each performance requires two pokemon to take part in it, and it is up to your character to decide whether they want to provide both pokemon themselves (and completely control every detail of the performance) or if they want to team up with another character and have each individual provide one pokemon (can two heads thinks better than one?).
Can we include more than two pokemon?
Not this time! Two pokemon will be the max.
Where will this contest be held?
Never ones to let any small, uh, incidents stand in their way, Riegfried and Soy will be inviting everybody back to their mansion for a garden party. The invitation to attend is extended to both people who want to participate in the contest and people who just want to come and watch (and maybe eat a whole bunch of rich people food)
They will also be arranging transport to the location, so regardless of where your character is in the world, they should be able to attend!
What will the timeline be for this contest?
Good question!
ICly, the contest is taking place on Wednesday the 22nd.
OOCly, this means we will put up the log for the contest on the 22nd, as well as open up submissions. Submission will be open up until midnight on Sunday the 26th.
On Monday the 27th, we’ll take all the submissions and give you all the chance to vote for your favourites. This vote will be open until midnight on Thursday the 30th.
On Friday the 1st of October results will be posted. This should hopefully give everybody a chance to participate in the contest!
Are there going to be prizes? What can we win?
Prizes will be revealed when results come in, but rest assured that your characters can indeed win something.
How do contest work in VR?
Unlike the games, where there are various categories to participate in, in VR contests work by trying to match the provided theme (in this case Love and Romance) as best as possible.
Once all submissions have been gathered, we will set up a poll, and all players can vote for who they feel is the best in show. Voting will be done similar to Eurovision, in which you can give 12 points to your favourite entry, then 10 points to your second favourite, 9 points to third place, etc etc all the way down to 1 point. Points will be tallied and the person with the highest score wins.
In addition, there will be one secret voting category (which will not be revealed until voting commences). Obviously, the parameters for this category are going to be secret, but it could be something like asking you to choose the most humorous entry or the best use of music.
If it still isn’t clear yet, we encourage you to take a look at our contest tag and check out some of our previous contests.
I have other questions!
Please ask them down below and we’ll respond ASAP.
