+1 alchemist

Hey all! Maxie here, with my third character-- Varian from Tangled: the Series! He's a nerd scientist who specializes in alchemy. At age the age of sixteen he became the kingdom's Royal Engineer, and at the age of just fourteen he had a major villain arc! He also has the voice of an angel thanks to Broadway actor Jeremy Jordan.

In Victory Road, he'll be a Pokemon Trainer who's starting with a Tynamo named Lorraine. His IC intro will be coming sometime this week, as will his opt-out post: I'll add that link once I put it up.

For more information on Varian, you can check out his app, but basically he's adorkable and a little overwhelming and has father issues... He's a great character from an unfortunately... Uneven series. The soundtrack slaps, though, so there's that.

Anyway, if you don't have me added on plurk feel free to do that (toonish) and I can't wait to get Varian going here in VR! Looking forward to some fun CR!

Varian is cool! I need to watch more Tangled. I really am impressed with his character development. The soundtrack is amazing! I think my first introduction to the series was hearing Nothing Left to Lose sung by a couple of YouTubers. I looked up other versions and found the original, then started investigating the series more!

I think most series I've run into are uneven, sadly. But that's what fanworks are for! :)

(By the way, what's an opt-out post? I wonder if it's something I should make too....)

Ah cool! Nothing Left to Lose is fantastic, agreed. Cassandra’s voice actor is another Broadway performer so a duet between Cass and Varian would have been hard to miss with, lol

An opt-out post is a post on your character’s account where comments are screened, and the idea is that anyone who doesn’t want RP threads with that character can comment there to gracefully opt out without it becoming any drama. Usually people just do the for characters whose stories deal with a lot of heavy or uncomfortable topics, but I like to give that chance on all my in-game journals just in case? Honestly though, I don’t think you need to do it! Because my line of thought is that I play mostly from kid/family-targeted canons, and some people in darker games aren’t comfortable with that, but VR is… Really really not a dark game so it’s over-preparedness on my part

I'm curious-- You said you first heard the song as a cover on YouTube, and I'm wondering if it was the one Caleb Hyles and Rebecca Parham did? Because they did such an exceptionally good job with the voices, it blows me away.

And yeah it's definitely a safe bet that VR is overall cool with YGO characters! I'm sure you've already noticed but there's a pretty big cast of characters here across various series.

That was definitely one of the things that attracted me! I wanted a group RP with YGO characters, and of the ones I've seen around with them, this one seemed the most like something I'd enjoy. I love Pokemon too. I ended up getting Crystal on my 2DS so I could follow along with the layout more, lol. It definitely helps with visualizing where all the towns are!
