VICTORY ROAD'S MOST ELIGIBLE DOG
You are greeted with a vision of a bright, over-saturated beach, the sound of waves crashing against the sand. You, personally, not you, your character. In the distance stands two silhouettes, their backs to you.
Your perspective changes. The ‘camera’ suddenly zooms in as they turn around, sparkles and heart effects flying everywhere across your field of view. The figures strike ridiculous-looking poses, and you can see them properly–it’s Riegfried and Soy, because of course it is. Both of them are wearing matching, deep maroon suits and heart pins on their lapels.
“Ah…Valentine’s Day! A joyous holiday to celebrate love in all its forms! Well wishes to those enjoying the company of someone this year, whether it be romantic or otherwise.”
“Love is so much more than romance, though. It’s friendship, it’s family, it’s about the connection between humans and Pokémon!”
“It’s wonderful when you find that perfect someone that you just click with.” Soy bats his eyelashes at Riegfried, making Riegfried chuckle. “But picking a perfect partner can be so tricky sometimes….”
“Thus, Messrs. Riegfried, Soy, and a special guest are here to help with that!”
A great big shadow suddenly appears on the beach, completely blocking out the sun. As you look upwards, you see a large creature descending from the sky to take its place behind Riegfried and Soy….
It’s Arceus. And it’s wearing a pink bowtie.*
The Almighty Arceus itself lands upon the beach behind Riegfried and Soy, presiding over this strange event. It stares intensely down at them.
“We have brought three–yes, three!–eligible contestants for you today! All wonderful partners in their own right, but only one of them will be the first to grace this world with their presence! Which of them will be the one? Take it away, Arceus!”
Your view suddenly shifts and zooms in on three small shapes in the background. Three dog Pokémon run across the beach in slow motion, sand flying in their wake and their fur glittering in the sun. It’s a Fidough, a Maschiff, and a Greavard! As each of the dogs is focused on in turn, fun facts flash across the screen, accompanied by commentary from Riegfried and Soy….
“Our first eligible partner is Fidough! Do you yearn for a quiet, domestic life? Our dear boy is the perfect match! Fidough loves cooking, and you can expect to be treated to a delicious dinner every day of the week!”
“Our second eligible partner is Maschiff! Don’t let that tough expression fool you–he’s a bad boy with a heart of gold! He’ll make sure that you’re treated right. He loves long car rides and sticking his face out the window, and his motto is ‘try anything once’!”
“Last but not least, our dark and misunderstood soul, Greavard! This self-declared emo will be sure to intrigue you. Greavard loves deep conversations and digging into your niche music taste. Won’t you let him into your heart?”
The camera focuses back on Riegfried, Soy, and Arceus. Riegfried and Soy are each holding a bundle of red roses.
“So, which one of these lovely pups has caught your eye? Which one do you think is the perfect partner? Which one deserves one of these lovely roses? Vote now on your phones!”
“We’ll reveal the winner on Valentine’s Day!”
A booming voice echoes in your mind….
“THOU MUST VOTE.”
And just like that, the vision begins to fade once more….
