Halloween contest FAQ
Step 1: Spooky season
Step 2: Add flamboyant contest hosts
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Contest!
What's the theme for this month's contest?
The theme for this contest is a bit more nebulous than previous themes. Instead, what Riegfried and Soy have done is found a piece of music that they would like you to use in your contest entry.
In essence, your entry will need to contain this piece of music in some way, but you are free to get creative with it! Use only part of the music, remix it (if that is what your character would do), or let it inspire a certain story in you. There are no other requirements this round, such as using a certain move or excluding a certain type of pokemon, just this particular piece of music.
Get creative!
How many Pokémon can we use in our entry?
You may use a maximum of two pokemon. It is absolutely fine to only use one, however!
Your pokemon will need to use at least one move during their performance. If you are choosing to use two pokemon during your entry, both pokemon will need to use one move.
Because we are allowing two Pokemon to participate in one contest entry, it is also allowed to team up with another player, with both supplying one pokemon.
Where will this contest be held?
This context / Halloween party will be hosted in an old Mansion outside of Lavender Town. Transport to and from the event will be arranged by Riegfried and Soy for anyone who needs it. More information on the Mansion will be revealed when the IC post goes up.
What will the timeline be for this contest?
Good question!
ICly, the contest is taking place on October 31st, Halloween night! This is also the day we will put up the IC log and the OOC submission post.
You will be able to submit your entries until November 7th! That gives you a two-week span, starting today, to write up your entry.
On Wednesday, November 8th, we will put up a voting post, which will remain open until Sunday, November 19th.
On Monday, November 20th results will be posted. This should hopefully give everybody a chance to participate in the contest!
Are there going to be prizes? What can we win?
Prizes will be revealed when results come in, but rest assured that your characters can indeed win something.
How do contests work in VR?
Unlike the games, where there are various categories to participate in, in VR, contests work by trying to match the provided theme (in this case spring/nature) as best as possible.
Once all submissions have been gathered, we will set up a poll, and all players can vote for who they feel is the best in show. Voting will be done similar to Eurovision, in which you can give 12 points to your favorite entry, then 10 points to your second favorite, 9 points to third place, etc etc all the way down to 1 point. Points will be tallied and the person with the highest score wins.
In addition, there will be one secret voting category (which will not be revealed until voting commences). Obviously, the parameters for this category are going to be secret, but it could be something like asking you to choose the most humorous entry or the best use of music.
If it still isn’t clear yet, we encourage you to take a look at our contest tag and check out some of our previous contests.
I have other questions!
Please ask them down below and we’ll respond ASAP.
