Snorunt fortunes 2024

There exists an old superstition that Snorunts bring luck and good fortune to those that treasure them. 'Look into a rich man's past, and you will find a Snorunt there' is something you might hear from older relatives to explain why some of us enjoy more fortune than others.

Well. It turns out those old people are right. Up to a point, at least.

Whether they actually bring good or bad luck themselves or if there is some luck-giving entity that is just very concerned with Snorunt Treatment is something that can be discussed at length, but the fact remains that how you treat a Snorunt can definitely affect your luck in life. And today, characters get to experience that for themselves.

Today, wherever your character may roam, they'll find Snorunts there. Even if they just stay at home, they might find their garden teeming with Snorunts or that the little creatures have somehow managed to get into their kitchen and have turned their fridge into a nice little hang-out. It's almost like a normal swarm, and it is possible for characters to catch the Snorunts if they want, however, unlike a normal swarm, the way your character interacts with the Snorunts will affect their luck for the duration of a month (Up to February first).

Comment on this post with your character, and how they might be dealing with the Snorunts swarming everywhere. Are they ignoring them? Trying to catch them? Will they play with them, and if a Snorunt tries to get into their home, how will they react? Don't worry, we are not looking for an essay, just a line or two is enough.

Based on that, your character will receive one of five fortunes for the coming month. These range from Great Luck, Just a bit Lucky, ??? Luck, Just a bit unlucky, to Great Misfortune and can affect anything from making your character particularly vulnerable to tiny little mishaps or fortunes to actually affecting things like the likeliness of them encountering/breeding a shiny pokemon or how many levels their pokemon can gain.

Mind you though, that these Snorunt are rather unpredictable. What could lead to a great fortune from one Snorunt could be taken as a complete insult by another Snorunt. Like someone once said, life is like a completely randomly decided fortune by some website generator; you never know what you are going to get!

Another curious thing is that many of the Snorunts seem to be carrying little notes that say things like 'My Wish for 2024 is --' or 'In this year, I hope --' or even 'My New Year's resolution is --'. And if they spot your character, they will very cheerfully offer ones of these notes to them, eagerly waiting for them to fill them out. And if your character does, the Snorunts will take the notes, behold them with great joy, before eating them?!

Well. Uh. Maybe writing down your New Year's Wish helps change your fortune a little? Possibly even influence what this year will bring to you? Or maybe it was just a tasty snack for weird hungry pokemon. But just in case, why not mention what your character would've written down. Just in case.

Oh, and as always, this event is entirely optional!

Minfilia remembers them from last year - but time has gotten away from her! Thus, there are a lot of strange construction holes in her yard the Snorunt might fall into. Uh. Sorry, friends.

But when she is note'd, she will write something simple on the note.

My wish for 2024 is for my friends and allies happiness, across the stars.

Corny, right? :p But once they're noticed, Minfilia has plenty of berries and resting spots for them.

While the Snorunt appreciate the snacks and places to rest, so many of them fall into holes... And their stubby limbs are not good for climbing out!

As a result, Minfilia will be dealing with Great Misfortune throughout January. This bad luck comes in the form of challengers. Now that she is known as not only the latest champion-level trainer, but also the one who landed the final hit on the Delibird kidnappers, it seems like every young and upcoming trainer Minfilia meets is looking for a battle. What's more annoying is that none of them are good sports about it.

Bo-Katan is out and about in Saffron City after having spent a great deal of time recovering from injuries. Still with a bit of a limp and a wrapped hand, she’s still feeling a lot better than she was. Enough that she feels she needs to move around and get back to training. Thus she’s in a park with some of her Pokemon when encountering the Snorunts. She has her Pokemon battle them, and will even catch one if she finds one she likes.

Though when she’s taking a break and sitting on a bench that’s when a Snorunt hands her a piece of paper. “My wish for 2024 is…” she reads and sits there and ponders it for a few moments. She could wish something for herself, but she’s been doing a lot of thinking lately. So instead she writes down ‘for Din Djarin (Mando) to be happy’. Then hands it back to the Snorunt.

The Snorunt seem to really enjoy taking on Bo-Katan's team. Even ice-types can stand to keep a little warm this time of year, and some battling does the trick for these little fellows.

As a result, Bo-Katan will be experiencing Great Luck throughout January. All month, her pokemon will be more driven to train than ever before, allowing them to get in more experience and greater growth. Maybe its the Snorunts' doing, or maybe her team just wants to be able to protect her should she get hurt again!

(Or, to put it in game terms, his pokemon can level up 10 levels per week in January.)

Hello Snorunt friends! Hiccup is carefully stepping around the throngs of Snorunt as he makes his way around in Blackthorn. He even stops to play with some of them!

When one hands him a note he looks at it and writes down his response before giving it back. “In this year, I hope to make many more friends.”

Many of the Snorunt just love to play, and even those who are less active are thankful to Hiccup for trying not to step on them. By the time they all go on their way, they would consider themselves new friends of this trainer-- And the more the merrier, right?

As a result, throughout January, Hiccup will experience A Bit of Good Luck when a family of Eiscue adopt him. The group of penguin pokemon simply take him in as one of their own, and while they're persistent about it - letting themselves in where he's staying, and following him around often - they are very friendly as well!

Harry hasn’t forgotten about the Snorunts from last year and how they ended up bringing in a loving and overprotective Garbodor who had stayed with him for a month. He decides to be more open in befriending them by letting them play with his Pokémon, especially with his Ice type Pokémon Pinecone the Glaile (he used to be a Snorunt so he is more familiar with them now), Olympe the Lapras, and Celestina the Alolan Vulpix. These three Pokémon will make a makeshift frozen playground for everyone to play in happily. He will offer them cold drinks and snacks so they won’t be starving. Heck, he will even let them hang out in his room and let the AC run to make it a nice chilly place for them.

Upon noticing the note on one of the Snorunts, he will write the following words:
This year, I hope that I can find a good career outside of gym battles and meet new friends.

There is no denying that Harry has been a spectacular host to the Snorunt this year! But as they say, the best-laid plans of Marill and men often go awry, and some of the Snorunt don't get along very well with Harry's team. It's not that his pokemon are doing anything wrong, mind! But be it Celestina's startling snow sneezes or Pinecone's clumsiness causing chaos, Harry's efforts to put his best foot forward haven't quite worked out.

As a result, Harry is in for Great Misfortune. He hopes to find something to do besides gym battles this year? Well, in January, that'll be all too easy, as every time Harry approaches the doors to a gym this month he will be turned away. Sometimes gym leaders are out on their lunch breaks, or had to take an important pokegear call from family. Other times, a gym is undergoing some maintenance and they cannot allow a challenger in at that moment. For whatever reason, the timing just doesn't work out!

(Or, to put it in game terms, Harry will not be able to obtain badges again until February.)

By now Min's heard the stories of the luck they bring and while the sudden success of CCJ last year is indirect enough he doesn't know that was down to them, he'd still rather not be on their bad side.

He has enough ice types that he has to brave the cold for their benefit, so he'll be outside for a few hours with them. He'll let them play with the Snorunts (and hope his Pokémon don't do anything to piss them off), and offer them some of the berries he'd brought for his team.

He isn't sure what to wish for, but doesn't want to offend the Snorunt by not writing something down so he gives them a generic response.

"My Wish for 2024 is happiness for all my friends. and Snorunts."

Happiness for Snorunts were definitely part of his initial wish and not added on as an afterthought...

Snorunts are no fools, Min-Gi! They know when a human is not being genuine... Or, at least, they can recognize it happening here. Those berries he offers taste like the bitterness of insincerity, and the Snorunt won't stand for it! Or maybe they're just mad that Ballroom Blitz kept tricking them with his pranks.

Either way, as a result, Min-Gi is in for A Bit of Bad Luck. He will wake up the next day and find his hair is a rich and vibrant orange color, and his eyebrows are a springtime shade of green. No amount of washing will get these colors out, nor will hair dye cover it up. Who can say how Snorunt have this power? Regardless, for the entire month of January, Min-Gi's hair will not be returning to normal.

Isabela may not be familiar with these Snorunts but she is very eager to get to know them more. She will engage in snowball fights with them (and deliberately letting them win every round), offer them food and iced drinks she has made for the occasion, and let her Pokémon to play with them.

As for what she writes on the note, it goes like this My wish for 2024 is for my friends having happy days and memories and for my sister Luisa to be the best Trainer she can become.

The Snorunts don’t really know what to think about Isabela’s snowfight capabilities. Is she letting them win? Is she just that bad at aiming? It leaves them feeling a little confused, and as a result, her luck will be rather ??? as well.

She wished for Luisa to be the best trainer she can be, right? Well, Luisa certainly will be forced to keep up on top of her skills this month as she finds herself continuously challenged to battle by a Paldean Tauros (Combat Breed). This Tauros will storm in and interrupt any and all manner of things to try and get Luisa to battle with him.

Why?

Well, uh, it looks like the Tauros has somehow gotten a bit of a crush on Isabela, and is trying to impress her by showing off its strength. And the best way to do that, apparently, is to challenge her very strong sister. Good luck?

Ah, those most delightful Snorunts are back! Should they visit Cecil's home, they'll find colorful little pastries, tasty leftover roast, and half a pan filled with carefully seasoned vegetables. Feel free to partake! Cecil's various Pokémon are too full to eat more, so they're in no shape to argue.

As for Cecil himself? Finding him is a bit trickier, but he must be around, because at some point one of the notes does get filled. After an attempt or two.

The feast Cecil leaves out for the Snorunt is exactly what's needed to fuel their mysterious annual roaming! And by the time they get to Cecil's home, the little ice-types are ready for a break from more exciting interactions, so the quiet is pretty nice, too.

As a result, Cecil will find that January brings him A Bit of Good Luck through some unusual circumstances. A group of people arrive at his gym for... A yoga retreat? They don't expect Cecil to run anything for them, but they are firmly under the impression that this is the location they booked! Cecil can simply send them away, of course, but if he allows the group to stay and use part of his gym for their retreat, he and his pokemon will be allowed to participate as they desire, giving them all free access to a month's worth of yoga sessions and meditation classes.

Ember thinks the Snorunts are cute! She's not fond of the cold, but she will entertain them by playing little games with them. As for her wish? She wishes that "she can see Wade again".

She desperately misses him.

Games with Snorunt? What a nice thing for someone who normally likes to keep the heat levels high! Sure, the Snorunt may not know Ember's a fire elemental, but fun is fun. Besides, flattery will get you everywhere, and the Snorunt are pleased to be called cute.

As a result, Ember will experience A Bit of Good Luck in January. Sometime this month, she will be visited by a cute and very sweet little Sobble. He loves to dance, and however he wound up finding Ember, he seems happy to stick with her and will willingly join her team should she try to capture him!

Try as they might, neither of the pink men can figure out what the Snorunts want. Mistreating them is a bad idea, evidently, but last year... Wait, Doppio doesn't remember what he did last year. Oh yeah, the Boss reminds him - he shared snacks with them, and in return he had to put up with that fucking intern. Come on, man!

Whatever. This year, he'll try and leave a basket full of berries just outside a window in his bedroom, in a small inn in Lavender Town. It's out of his hands now!

... Until he gets one of those little notes and realises he's supposed to write something on it. Okay, okay, he writes "to keep climbing higher with the Boss", hands it over, is weirdly relieved when it's immediately eaten, and now it's out of his hands.

Fortunately for Doppio, though the minds of the Snorunts cannot be predicted, his gift of a basket of berries seems to be acceptable. As a result, he’ll experience A Bit of Good Luck during the rest of the month.

This good luck will come to him in the form of his superiors assigning a new mission to him. His mission will be to go to the top of Mt Silver (they’ll take care of creating a false identity and badges for him, so he can have access) and capture a certain number of pokemon. The mountain will be tough to climb at this time of year, and the pokemon there will be very powerful, but if he does accomplish his mission, he’ll be made Alpha at the end of the month.

Riz may or may not be on the case of 'watching Bo Katan from a distance and making sure she doesn't overdo it'. It's not stalking, it's a stake-out. In a couple of minutes, he's going to super casually stroll up to her, pretend it's very coincidental they are meeting out here, and try and make sure she doesn't stay out too long. The plan is flawless.

So anyway, Riz doesn't have time for these little dudes. He tries to shoo them away as subtly as he can (doesn't wanna give away his position), and when they keep shoving little papers at him there is only one thing he can do.

'My wish for 2024 is wouldn't you like to know little triangle guy'.

Wow, Riz, you KICK snorunt. You KICK their body like a football. Oh! Oh! Jail for Riz. Jail for Riz for a Thousand Years.

Or, well, at the very least one month of A Bit of Bad Luck.

Throughout the month, Riz will feel… watched. We realise that Riz is a very paranoid boy and that this may not be new to him, but this time, he’s actually being watched! Wherever he goes this month, he’ll be spied upon by… Unowns! What do they want with him? What does this mean? Why is he trailed by a different letter each day? Is there a secret message? A clue? So many questions and no answers.

Angel has every reason to be wary of the Snorunts, given the fact that they got her sick... many years ago. But you know what else they did? They got her free ice cream. So it's a 50/50 shot, and as someone who's never gambled before, she thinks those odds sound great!

Given that they're on a beach, Angel's first priority is making the poor guys some thing a bit more cold. Thankfully she's got a Lapras to help her out. A little digging in the sand, one round of Water Pulse, and an ice beam to freeze it over gives her and the little guys some nice ice to skate on.

Angel mostly stays off to the side and lets them play. But she does cheer them on!

As for her wish? That's simple. She writes in her illegible chicken scratch: I wish to spend another year here with my family.

Give a pack of Snorunt an ice rink, and they'll skate on it. But give a pack of Snorunt motivational cheers while they skate? Then you've earned yourself their favor for life... Or at least for a month!

Which is to say, A Bit of Good Luck comes Angel's way in January. A family is visiting the aquarium at the Pelagic Gym - an bit of a tradition of theirs - and happen to find out that the gym leader has recently gotten married. Though they feel that they don't have much to offer otherworlders, they simply insist on sending something to the newlyweds! Not long after, they send over baking supplies. None of it is fancy, or even that modern-- In fact, everything is a secondhand item. It's all perfectly functional, though, and carries a feeling of personal history.

This guy? This guy right here? The little Snorunt that ran up to Vash with a piece of paper? He is absolutely getting picked up. He's going to show Livio just how SHAPED he is. Look at him, isn't this wild? He honestly doesn't even realize the little guy wanted anything out of him until he has beheld, the Snorunt. But you know what, once he figures out that the little guy has something special going on, he kneels down and does indeed write something.

I wish for the world to be made of Love & Peace!!!!

Don’t you know it’s very bad manners to just scoop up a cute little guy without warning? How would you like to just be plucked off your very cute little feet to be beheld. He deserves the Bit Of Bad Luck that comes to him this month.

Said bad luck comes in the form of a Grafaiai and an Impidimp – pokemon tricksters who have decided that Vash is going to be their new target. Fortunately for Vash, despite having big dreams of dastardly schemes, these two pokemon aren’t actually very good at what they do. Their tricks are easy to avoid and their pranks consist of doing odd things like putting carrots in his boots.

(If Vash happens to ask around, people in town will confirm that they are familiar with this duo and they’ve been up to these sorts of things for a while. They even have been given names – War (Grafaiai) and Strife (Impidimp))

Oh no. Ryou remembers these guys. Ryou remembers the Carnivine they sent after him last year. Ryou will be trying to get on the Snorunts good side by offering them some Poképuffs when they turn up.

As for the note, his wish is "My wish for 2024 is for my luck to turn out better this year".

Unfortunately, it’s like Ryou is expecting. Despite his attempts, the Snorunt turn down the offered Pokepuffs, leaving him with A Bit of Bad Luck for the month of January.

In his case, this bad luck manifests in losing so many things. It’s not the big and important stuff though. His pokemon and TMs are all safe. But if he puts a few pokedollars in his pocket, they will fall out through a hole that wasn’t there a moment ago. If he puts down the remote, he better be prepared to spend two hours searching for it (of course it is in the last place he looked, but how the heck did it end up in the fridge??) Unfortunately for him (and everybody around him) this also extends to other people’s things whenever he interacts with them. Again, the big stuff is safe, but if anyone hands him something small to hold for a moment, chances are, it will disappear.

Oh no, that sure is a horde of Snorunts invading Armin's office -- a horde of Snorunts that apparently want to eat paper? Oh dear, oh no. Please put that down, that is Armin's gym paperwork. No, no, no, don't eat that binder.

Desperate to save his paperwork, Armin ends up herding the snorunts out of his office and just... into his home proper? Wait, he had given Angel an ice cream maker for Christmas, right? Time to, uh, try his hand at making ice cream and hope the snorunts are satiated with his beginner's attempts.

Oh and that note? Armin will definitely fill it out with a 'In 2024 I hope to live happily with Angel (and maybe see a new water pokemon)'.

How dare Armin herd them away and feed them ice cream when all these Snorunts want to do is eat paper! For his horrible misdeeds against Snorunt-kind, he’ll be cursed with Great Misfortune throughout the month.

This misfortune will take a rather eggy shape, when all of Armin’s pokemon (but not his Lapras) decide that this is the time for getting amorous and start producing just So Many Eggs. Eggs everywhere. Open a cupboard? Egg. Couch? Egg. There are eggs in his slippers and eggs covering his paperwork and none of his pokemon will have the good grace to look even slightly ashamed of their actions.

Just. Egg.

Boober's doing the host thing regardless of if anyone expects it of him - after all, the holidays may be over, but there's still often more people than usual around the apartment to feed and assure are comfortable. That is extended to the Snorunt, albeit in a more indirect way: Boober's busy, but he's leaving out treat plates for them and has set up a couple of spots kept at a cool temperature for them to rest.

What he writes down as his hope for the new year is a bigger home that will fit more people and pokemon.

The way to a Snorunt’s heart is through the sternum. But barring that, plates of snacks are also very welcome. And for his excellent snack making, Boober will be rewarded with Great Luck throughout the month.

Right at the start of the month, he’ll be accosted by a slightly frantic Chef who tells him he’s finally found him while holding up one of the disposable cups Boober served soup in at the Christmas Market. It turns out this Chef is in charge of a chain of restaurants and after he tasted the soup one of his employees brought back from the Christmas Market, he has become determined to serve Boober’s various soups in his restaurants. He’ll promise Boober a very rich reward if he spends the month teaching all his cooks the various ways of soup making.

...H'boy, it's time for these guys again. Louie is being very wary, trying to avoid the snorunts as much as possible. He'll leave keeping them happy and entertained to Peso, his highly maternal Corviknight, as well as Penningar the Perrserker, whose sleepy passiveness leaves him much, much harder to anger and better at rolling with anything than his looks would suggest.

Louie does fill out the note a snorunt manages to give him, though: My Wish for 2024 is for business to keep going well.

Don’t think the Snorunts don’t notice you are avoiding them, Louie. Setting them up with Peso and Penningar is all good and well, but they are very hurt to be ignored by you. As a result, Louie will be experiencing A Bit of Bad Luck during the month.

This comes in the form of being boycotted. Mind you, not by all the people he sells eggs to. Hell retain a good 60% of his sales, but that other 40%--

Why is he getting boycotted, you ask? Well, the craziest rumor is starting to go around on Pinecostagram. Apparently Louie’s eggs attract Spinaraks. It’s true, one poster swears! She bought one of his eggs, and the next day there was a Spinarak in her home. Other folks chime in claiming the same thing and a minor boycott ensues – that and a lot of social media comments about how dare he send Spinaraks after people!

Livio has just been doing his best not to step on/trip over these little guys, until Vash excitedly shows him one like a kid with a new puppy. He has a moment of glancing between the two of them, concerned whether the Snorunt is okay with this, but still looking very fondly at Vash and his enthusiasm.

Before sending the ice triangle off, Livio offers it one of the Pokéblock treats he keeps on hand (a sweet and spicy one, if that matters) as both an apology for the ~~plant-~~ man-handling and a thank you for its patience.

If he's offered a slip, his wish will also be for love and peace. For him, or someone else? Well... maybe a little of both.

After the absolutely undignified treatment inflicted on the Snorunt by Vash, the Snorunt’s poor mood is definitely mollified by the Pokeblock given to it by Livio. As a result, Livio will experience A Bit of Good Luck during the month.

This luck will take the form of a cute little Bunnelby that starts following him around and tries to help him with any tasks he might have. Of course, it’s just a tiny little bun, so many tasks are far beyond its capabilities, but it is trying! It is trying to very hard to help out, and even tuts whenever Vash’s ‘nemeses’ show up.

Gobo is a bit surprised by the crowd of Snorunts around him, but they're not an unwelcome sight. He's been busy noodling away on his guitar, and on the appearance of the Snorunt plays a little ditty for them.

Even when one hands him the piece of paper he continues to hum the melody, looking it over. Grinning as he understood, he scribbled down, "My New Year's resolution is to get to know lots of new and interesting Pokemon!" and handed the paper back.

The music Gobo plays catches the Snorunts’ attention immediately. They’re entranced! Maybe too entranced. They’re kind of confused by what just happened.

As a result, Gobo will have a bit of ??? Luck this month. He wanted to meet new and interesting pokemon, and that is exactly what happens when a Maractus starts following him around. All through January, she will be with him, but this Maractus is a bit fickle. Sometimes, she’s playful, friendly, and fun! But there are also plenty of times her personality will be as prickly as her body. At all times, she likes a lot of attention and isn’t afraid to do risky, dangerous stunts to get it! And while she’ll be right by Gobo’s side the whole time, she will be impossible to catch! At least, until the month is over, at which point Gobo may do so if he chooses.

"You guys again..."

Snorunts, how did you get into the pantry. Why are you in the pantry. Are you eating his food? Are you into his coffee?

"Just... okay, fine."

I wish nothing eventful happens this year.

The Snorunts don’t really care that Shiro’s more or less ignoring them! They’re too busy eating his coffee– Yes, eating it. They don’t care if it’s supposed to be brewed into a drink first, they are too busy enjoying the effects of caffeine. Eventually, the now vibrating and wide-eyed Snorunt move on, but they will not forget this fun time! At least, until the caffeine crash hits.

So all things considered, it’s not surprise that the overall Shiro will have A Bit Of Good Luck when he’s approached in January by a Staryutube channel host. This chef, who always wears a mask - yes even off-camera, don’t ask - has caught wind of Shiro’s reputation when it comes to cooking… And he is certain he can help. There is no one so far gone that the “Masked Custard Royale” cannot teach to be a better chef! If Shiro agrees to go on the show, by the end of the month, he'll either have picked up some very basic cooking skills or he'll be paid money by a very broken man to please just go away.

Shadowmaru's pokemon find the Snorunts first. His dogs, and his Type: Null - glitter and all. They are absolutely going to play with them, if allowed.

"Ah, hello once more. I do hope you're rather more benevolent than last time..." says the AI once he steps onto the porch to witness this.

For the new year, I resolve to join the Breeder's Guild.

"How is that?"

The Snorunt have fun playing with Shadowmaru’s pokemon, and his Type: Null in particular. They’ve never seen a pokemon like that, who has glitter coming off of it! They are inspired.

The luck that comes of this can only be described as ??? Luck. All through January, Shadowmaru himself will shed glitter just like his Type: Null. To such a stylish man, this hopefully won’t be too much of a problem. He’ll certainly be looking fabulous! Others around might find it a bit pesky, sure, but that is the price to pay for fashion. Hey Snorunts! Emporio hopes they're a little more assured in his uh, existence and identity after the year with the paper cut out letters!

This year Emporio is in Sevii- spending a lot of time with family, with his boyfriend, and more than likely when the Snorunts find him...with the newest member of his cast! He's being careful to guide Jotaro around to the best spots, yep.

This year of course, he expects the Snorunts and is ready for what they've got in store, but these written charms are new!

Ultimately after giving it thought (do give him a second, Snorunts!), he writes;

In this year, I hope to finalize and build a gym that can help as many new trainers as possible start their journey right.

While passing it carefully back, he also offers some cold drinks or ice cream if the Snorunt need- it's still pretty hot here in Sevii! You guys work hard!

One Snorunt, in particular, is moved by the encounter with Emporio. Sure, they all appreciate the refreshments, but it’s seeing Emporio with his father that hits home for one of them. Because clearly, that’s Emporio’s father he’s with, right? They’re having fun adventures like a father and son would! This Snorunt never knew his father…

As a result, Emporio will experience A Bit of Good Luck this month. When he’s back at home in January after these (apparently familial) adventures, he will find a bunch of books waiting for him. A lot of them are books on survival skills, or guides on teaching, but there are also some very specific self-help books that may not have any relevance to Emporio. Snorunt aren’t exactly great at reading!

Well first of all if the snorunt were waiting under the cool shade of the houseboat roof, Carly is offering many apologies- she was just at the resort for New Years with her wife and father-in-law y'know!

Please be nice to her wife, she pleads, it's been a wild December,

But, no matter if they were waiting or not, she's got plenty of pokefriendly ice creams to offer their pick of! (Snorunt encountering Emporio will find them Familiar...guess this is where he got it!)

Or they can just shove it aside for a freezer nap. She won't judge.

In any case, avoiding the dreaded 'resolution' trap, Carly goes with a format that hopefully won't jinx her dreams!

My wish for 2024 is peace, relaxation, and happiness for my family, friends, and pokemon.

Don't worry Snorunts, you're probably included under 'Pokemon'.

Probably huh? Only Probably?! Jail for Carly! And a whole month of Great Misfortune.

This whole month any Rocket Endeavour she, uh, endeavours will not go as planned. Her trainee recruits? They are just the worst. She may end up having to bail them out of jail. Not even necessarily for Rocket stuff, again they are the worst. Any attempts to steal pokemon will turn into disaster. Even her submitted paperwork will either go missing or end up on the desk of the most anal-retentive admin, who has found a few things for Carly to correct, actually!

And if she tries going on a bigger mission to turn things around for herself? Perhaps… not a good idea.

This month, Jotaro is exploring the Sevii Islands, just getting used to the Pokemon world. At New Years, he'll at Resort Gorgeous but otherwise he'll be heading around Islands 5-7.

He'll ask if any of the Snorunts if they want to join him on his adventure around the islands. He's willing to battle them with his Finizen if they want or they can just hop in his Pokeball.

Regardless, Jotaro will take the note offered to him, nod gravely, and then fill it out neatly in his pencil with:

In this year, I hope to get my bearings in this new world and fix my relationship with my daughter.

He will then hand it back, nod approvingly at the Snorunt and offer some oran berries. It's not much but it's all he has, and you gotta tip your delivery guy.

Jotaro has understood the assignment. You should always tip the delivery guy. Especially when the delivery guy is a luck-bringing triangle. For his tip, he’ll receive A bit of good luck in January.

At some point, Jotaro will be approached and offered two Free Tickets!! to a new and upcoming Palafin show on Island One! Two tickets. Why. That sounds perfect for taking someone else with him to the show.

(and as if that isn’t enough, during the show, Jotaro will have the luck to be a winner of a random draw and he’ll be gifted a Palafin Kigurumi. This would make a perfect gift. But then again... it would also fit him so well...)

Oh.

Snorunts.

This is new to him, possibly owing to the fact that somehow he managed to miss out on encountering them [I guess maybe he wasn't interesting enough as a still-kinda-green trainer?], but this year? No, we're not missing out this year.

Of course, somewhere between then and now he's managed to learn about these little guys, and what they can be like, especially now.

From the sounds of it, dealing with the Snortunts isn't too much different than dealing with all the peoples of Eternia, and Keldor's had to attend diplomacy lessons with Miro, even if Miro didn't like the idea of his bastard-born son being the one who needed them, and he intends to put all that to use.

There was the trip to the ice cream shop, the Smoliv Garden, and the movie theatre [that quickly turned into a popcorn fight], then to the corner store to empty out the slushie machine to entertain an ever-increasing number of these guys, and, given their nature, it doesn't take long for things to feel less like diplomacy and more like daycare. Because even when you're trying to make about three dozen or more Snorunts [and counting!] happy with you, it doesn't mean they'll be happy with each other, and no one said that diplomacy would ever involve trying to entice ice pokemon off an ice rink during the middle of a hockey game [just give them their own rink for their ice capades], only to finish it off by giving about fifty or more Snorunts a sleigh ride.

With Mr Big N Tall pulling them around.

But, hey; it's just for one day, right?

Did you even remember to fill out any of those notes the Snorunts were brandishing?

Oh, dear. Despite all of Keldor’s efforts, the Snorunts seem miffed that he didn’t even wish for anything! How the heck are they supposed to figure out what to bestow upon him, now? As a result, Keldor will be experiencing Great Misfortune this month.

It seems that, given the Snorunts’ frustration towards his lack of communication, Keldor is going to struggle to communicate with other people for a bit. During January, whenever Keldor sends a message on the network, there is a great likelihood that his device will glitch and send it to the wrong person. Misfires all around! Trying to plan a surprise party for someone? Oops, looks like the plans got sent to the person you were trying to surprise.

As always, Fluttershy is more than happy to chat and play with the Snorunt if she comes across them.

The Snorunts are happy to chat with Fluttershy when the opportunity presents, especially when it turns out she can actually understand them! As a result, she’ll be treated to a Bit of Good Luck in January.

This will arrive to her in the form of an upcoming Cat Cafe that will soon be opening its doors on the Sevii Islands. The only ‘problem’ is that they still need some cats for the cafe. Fortunately, that’s where Fluttershy comes in! If she agrees to work with them, her income will receive a bit of a boost this January from the eggs she’ll be breeding for them (always nice after those expensive holidays) and furthermore once the Cat Cafe opens its doors in February, she’ll always be welcome to come by free of charge!
