Snorunt fortunes 2024

There exists an old superstition that Snorunts bring luck and good fortune to those that treasure them. 'Look into a rich man's past, and you will find a Snorunt there' is something you might hear from older relatives to explain why some of us enjoy more fortune than others.

Well. It turns out those old people are right. Up to a point, at least.

Whether they actually bring good or bad luck themselves or if there is some luck-giving entity that is just very concerned with Snorunt Treatment is something that can be discussed at length, but the fact remains that how you treat a Snorunt can definitely affect your luck in life. And today, characters get to experience that for themselves.

Today, wherever your character may roam, they'll find Snorunts there. Even if they just stay at home, they might find their garden teeming with Snorunts or that the little creatures have somehow managed to get into their kitchen and have turned their fridge into a nice little hang-out. It's almost like a normal swarm, and it is possible for characters to catch the Snorunts if they want, however, unlike a normal swarm, the way your character interacts with the Snorunts will affect their luck for the duration of a month (Up to February first).

Comment on this post with your character, and how they might be dealing with the Snorunts swarming everywhere. Are they ignoring them? Trying to catch them? Will they play with them, and if a Snorunt tries to get into their home, how will they react? Don't worry, we are not looking for an essay, just a line or two is enough.

Based on that, your character will receive one of five fortunes for the coming month. These range from Great Luck, Just a bit Lucky, ??? Luck, Just a bit unlucky, to Great Misfortune and can affect anything from making your character particularly vulnerable to tiny little mishaps or fortunes to actually affecting things like the likeliness of them encountering/breeding a shiny pokemon or how many levels their pokemon can gain.

Mind you though, that these Snorunt are rather unpredictable. What could lead to a great fortune from one Snorunt could be taken as a complete insult by another Snorunt. Like someone once said, life is like a completely randomly decided fortune by some website generator; you never know what you are going to get!

Another curious thing is that many of the Snorunts seem to be carrying little notes that say things like 'My Wish for 2024 is --' or 'In this year, I hope --' or even 'My New Year's resolution is --'. And if they spot your character, they will very cheerfully offer ones of these notes to them, eagerly waiting for them to fill them out. And if your character does, the Snorunts will take the notes, behold them with great joy, before eating them?!

Well. Uh. Maybe writing down your New Year's Wish helps change your fortune a little? Possibly even influence what this year will bring to you? Or maybe it was just a tasty snack for weird hungry pokemon. But just in case, why not mention what your character would've written down. Just in case.

Oh, and as always, this event is entirely optional!

Oh yeah, these guys.

Luisa can't help being a little wary about them after last year. But she also won't turn them away if she comes across them. She'll try once again to have some snacks out for them if they come by the house.

YES ABSOLUTELY HE'S ON IT. He accepts before he even finds out what kinds of Pokémon roam in Mt Silver; when he does look into it, he'll, uh... do his best to prepare himself. There's no dying here, so what's the worst that can happen, really!

Even with all of the weird and mixed luck the Snorunts bring, Ryan is still delighted when they come to visit. He can't help having a soft spot for them after training Boo for so long. He happily lets Boo out to play with them. She's a Froslass now and even though she's very happy to see them she's a little flustered at first by how much bigger she is now. She chills out though, pun intended, and plays with them out in the snow.

Because this probably happens around when Min-Gi has his Snorunt experience, Ryan sees the Snorunts take Min's note for the new year and eat it. It's baffling after they've given them berries, but it makes figuring out his wish pretty easy. Right now, things are really good for him. He's dating Min-Gi, their music career has taken off (probably thanks to the Snorunts!), and he's pretty happy with things as they are. So, he writes--

"In this year, I hope this note is tasty for you. :)"

The music Gobo plays catches the Snorunts’ attention immediately. They’re entranced! Maybe too entranced. They’re kind of confused by what just happened.

As a result, Gobo will have a bit of ??? Luck this month. He wanted to meet new and interesting pokemon, and that is exactly what happens when a Maractus starts following him around. All through January, she will be with him, but this Maractus is a bit fickle. Sometimes, she’s playful, friendly, and fun! But there are also plenty of times her personality will be as prickly as her body. At all times, she likes a lot of attention and isn’t afraid to do risky, dangerous stunts to get it! And while she’ll be right by Gobo’s side the whole time, she will be impossible to catch! At least, until the month is over, at which point Gobo may do so if he chooses.

The Snorunts don’t really care that Shiro’s more or less ignoring them! They’re too busy eating his coffee– Yes, eating it. They don’t care if it’s supposed to be brewed into a drink first, they are too busy enjoying the effects of caffeine. Eventually, the now vibrating and wide-eyed Snorunt move on, but they will not forget this fun time! At least, until the caffeine crash hits.

So all things considered, it’s not surprise that the overall Shiro will have A Bit Of Good Luck when he’s approached in January by a Staryutube channel host. This chef, who always wears a mask - yes even off-camera, don’t ask - has caught wind of Shiro’s reputation when it comes to cooking… And he is certain he can help. There is no one so far gone that the “Masked Custard Royale” cannot teach to be a better chef! If Shiro agrees to go on the show, by the end of the month, he'll either have picked up some very basic cooking skills or he'll be paid money by a very broken man to please just go away.

The Snorunt have fun playing with Shadowmaru’s pokemon, and his Type: Null in particular. They’ve never seen a pokemon like that, who has glitter coming off of it! They are inspired.

The luck that comes of this can only be described as ??? Luck. All through January, Shadowmaru himself will shed glitter just like his Type: Null. To such a stylish man, this hopefully won’t be too much of a problem. He’ll certainly be looking fabulous! Others around might find it a bit pesky, sure, but that is the price to pay for fashion. And… Hopefully Shadowmaru won’t be too fussed about glitter falling into his tea and food. Ooh, and try not to let it get in your eyes!

One Snorunt, in particular, is moved by the encounter with Emporio. Sure, they all appreciate the refreshments, but it’s seeing Emporio with his father that hits home for one of them. Because clearly, that’s Emporio’s father he’s with, right? They’re having fun adventures like a father and son would! This Snorunt never knew his father…

As a result, Emporio will experience A Bit of Good Luck this month. When he’s back at home in January after these (apparently familial) adventures, he will find a bunch of books waiting for him. A lot of them are books on survival skills, or guides on teaching, but there are also some very specific self-help books that may not have any relevance to Emporio. Snorunt aren’t exactly great at reading!

Astarion was resting in his hotel room when the Snorunt would be running around. Oooooh, new Pokemon to catch...! If Astarion was feeling alright, the cold was getting to him and all he wanted to do was sleep. Someone seemed to have gotten the flu and was sneezing all over the place. Tissues strewn about and he had a fever.

Brunhilda the Woobat will do the welcoming! Hello, friends! Sorry Dad was sick! Do you need a smooch? She went to reach for smooches when a sickly man made a hoarse remark.

"Brunhilda...play with your new friends as much as you'd like but remember to ask for consent before you start giving your adorable kisses out..."

Oop, sorry! Brunhilda sat down politely, may she kiss you?

My wish for 2024 is for finding riches and be able to get out of the cold for the winter.

Luna still thinks these little guys are really cute. She'll watch them play, offer them berries, and even invite them to stick around if one wants to join her team.

Her wish that she writes down is that she hopes her friends are all doing well and that they'll have a good new year.

Romelle is still not sure what to think of these guys, so she goes about her daily business, acknowledging them when they're around, letting them play with her Pokémon, and even letting them take berries, poffins, and other treats if they seem to ask.

She does write down a wish, hoping for success in her new breeding business for the coming year.

Keith doesn't trust these guys at all. He's had nothing but frustration any time they've shown up, including both Allura and him getting injured last year. Each time he comes across them, he glowers and demands to know what they want from him to avoid being cursed again.

That said, when handed the paper, he does write something down because he gets the impression that's what they want. He writes down that he just wants them to not give him bad luck this time.

Probably huh? Only Probably?! Jail for Carly! And a whole month of Great Misfortune.

This whole month any Rocket Endeavour she, uh, endeavours will not go as planned. Her trainee recruits? They are just the worst. She may end up having to bail them out of jail. Not even necessarily for Rocket stuff, again they are the worst. Any attempts to steal pokemon will turn into disaster. Even her submitted paperwork will either go missing or end up on the desk of the most anal-retentive admin, who has found a few things for Carly to correct, actually!

And if she tries going on a bigger mission to turn things around for herself? Perhaps… not a good idea.

Jotaro has understood the assignment. You should always tip the delivery guy. Especially when the delivery guy is a luck-bringing triangle. For his tip, he’ll receive A bit of good luck in January.

At some point, Jotaro will be approached and offered two Free Tickets!! to a new and upcoming Palafin show on Island One! Two tickets. Why. That sounds perfect for taking someone else with him to the show.

(and as if that isn’t enough, during the show, Jotaro will have the luck to be a winner of a random draw and he’ll be gifted a Palafin Kigurumi. This would make a perfect gift. But then again... it would also fit him so well...)

Oh, dear. Despite all of Keldor’s efforts, the Snorunts seem miffed that he didn’t even wish for anything! How the heck are they supposed to figure out what to bestow upon him, now? As a result, Keldor will be experiencing Great Misfortune this month.

It seems that, given the Snorunts’ frustration towards his lack of communication, Keldor is going to struggle to communicate with other people for a bit. During January, whenever Keldor sends a message on the network, there is a great likelihood that his device will glitch and send it to the wrong person. Misfires all around! Trying to plan a surprise party for someone? Oops, looks like the plans got sent to the person you were trying to surprise.

The Snorunts are happy to chat with Fluttershy when the opportunity presents, especially when it turns out she can actually understand them! As a result, she’ll be treated to a Bit of Good Luck in January.

This will arrive to her in the form of an upcoming Cat Cafe that will soon be opening its doors on the Sevii Islands. The only ‘problem’ is that they still need some cats for the cafe. Fortunately, that’s where Fluttershy comes in! If she agrees to work with them, her income will receive a bit of a boost this January from the eggs she’ll be breeding for them (always nice after those expensive holidays) and furthermore once the Cat Cafe opens its doors in February, she’ll always be welcome to come by free of charge!

Luisa’s reaction is a bit ambivalent to the Snorunts. And as a result, their reaction is rather ambivalent to her as well. As a result, she’ll experience some ??? Luck the rest of the month.

For all of January, any pokemon she comes across in the wild just wants to be her friend. It’s actually a little ridiculous how happy they are to hang out with Luisa. She can’t go for a walk without three Pidoves trying to perch on her head, or a Growlithe trying to get her to play fetch.

It’s great news if she wants to make friends with the local pokemon or maybe pick up a new friend or two. It’s horrible news if she wants to get out there and train her pokemon because no pokemon (save for that annoying lovesick Tauros) is willing to engage her in battle. A curse or a blessing? It’s for Luisa to decide!

Nobody can really tell what Ryan did to put the Snorunts in such a bad mood. Did his written words just leave a sour taste in their mouths? In any case, he’ll have a month long of Very Bad Luck waiting for him.

And this luck will manifest in the worst way for a musician who has everything going for him – for all of January, Ryan will deal with the worst case of artblock. No song he tries to write feels good. Even the songs he normally plays feel very sour to him.

(They still sound perfectly fine to everyone else)

There is no reason why this should be happening. There is nothing wrong with his instruments or his body, it just… it just isn’t happening for him this month. Music-wise, at least.

Brunhilde is very polite! And her good manners definitely impress the Snorunts. They are so impressed, in fact, that Brunhilde (and by extension Astarion) will be experiencing Very Good Luck for the rest of the month.

This luck will come to him the next time he goes to the store. Whether it is for another pack of tissues or some cough syrup, suddenly Astarion will find himself surrounded by balloons and flashing lights while a very, very happy employee congratulates him on being the 1,000,000th customer!

He’s not just getting balloons and cheers however. He’ll also be given a month long, all expenses paid trip to Resort Gorgeous on Sevii Island Five. Congratulations!

The Snorunts seem touched by Luna’s generous wish, for they seem to have decided to bestow upon her some Very Good Luck for the rest of the month!

During the course of January, any time Luna wishes good fortune or will upon another person, that person will succeed at whatever they’re trying to accomplish, thanks to her encouragement. As a result, they’ll return her kindness by offering her an item as thanks! What comes around, goes around, they say. For example, if Luna wishes someone luck at their spelling bee, they’ll come and return the favor by giving her a Thunder Stone! This effect only applies to NPCs that Luna encounters, sadly, but hey, enjoy being showered in items for a bit!

Unfortunately, Romelle wasn’t watching those Snorunts too closely and they ate far too many treats, leaving them all with sore tummies and a very poor mood. As a result, Romelle will be experiencing Great Misfortune this month.

She wanted to become a better breeder? Well, good luck trying to do that when all her pokemon absolutely refuse to breed! This whole month, none of Romelle’s pokemon seem include to produce any eggs at all. The pokemon aren’t fighting exactly, they just… don’t do whatever it is pokemon do to produce eggs. Similarly, any eggs she is in the process of hatching will take double the time to actually hatch. A pokemon with Flame Body will still cut it down by half but that just means it would take the normal amount of time.

Hopefully Romelle will feel properly chastised for, uh, the Snorunts not having any self-control.

Has Keith considered that perhaps he is manifesting these bad fortunes? What are the Snorunts supposed to think when he greets them with such a grumpy face. As a result, he’ll end up with yet some more bit of bad luck this year.

Early in January, Keith will suddenly receive a call from the local Jennies. It seems like there might be something wrong with his trainer registration? And if he could please fix that by submitting the form from the website. Oh no, sir, sorry, they don’t mean that form. They mean the other form. Actually no, not that form either. Maybe he should come in and go to the desk to get this sorted. Not that desk. Oh heavens, the Jenny in charge of the paperwork is not in today, maybe he can come back tomorrow. Trainer registration? They don’t do that here.

(all in all, everything related to his trainer status still functions like normal. He can still gain the regular number of levels and his badges and discounts are still there. It’s just. A lot of weird conflicting bureaucracy.)

OOOF! Question though, since Carly presumably doesn't churn out recruit graduates so fast that they only last a month to begin with, is the option of 'they're the worst because they don't wanna LEAVE' on the table?

Small correction, the Grafaifai will be level 28 because, whoops, they don't evolve until then. Impidimp is still going to be level 10 though.
