Event Wrap-Up!

AND NOW THAT IT'S ALL OVER...

WHAT HAPPENED TO SUICUNE?!?!?!

In the days following what happened, "What happened to Suicune" is a BIG talking point!

It takes approximately zero seconds for someone to point out that it would seem Suicune has fallen victim to the same mysterious de-colorization as Articuno's wing... Notably, for a Legendary that's normally very lustrous and sparkly, those who saw Suicune leave the Ruins were able to observe that in addition to losing its color, its coat now seems flat, dull and unreflective.

Needless to say, a lot of people are extremely distressed about it, and it doesn't take long for little shrines and vigils set up by Johto natives to start popping up in Suicune's honor... but no one has any immediate answers as to what caused it, outside of... whatever exactly happened down there in that chamber.

SPEAKING OF THAT, WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CHARACTERS?

Fortunately, it would seem that everyone and their Pokemon were spared Suicune's desaturated fate, although everyone present will feel extremely groggy and sick for a few hours after coming to from the blast-- most will note intense headaches or feelings of nausea not unlike what can happen during sudden extreme changes in weather or air pressure.

Medical attention isn't far off, though-- luckily, Rangers who happened to be outside of the Ruins at the time of the incident are quick to arrive with first-aid, shortly followed by Field-Nurse Joys and Pokemon Center equipment specially flown out to handle anything more severe than bumps, bruises, or Kartana cuts.

After being examined, the Nurses will be able to confirm that aside from feeling extremely icky from being in the portal's range, no characters suffered any permanent damage from the incident!

ARE THERE ANY REMAINING SIGNS OF THE PORTAL OR THE KARTANA?

Well, the Kartana did no small amount of damage to the Ruins and the surrounding forest... there's a lot of sliced-up branches and even tree trunks cut clean through, and a number of the old stone buildings and tablets were scarred by their sharp blades. But in terms of any tangible remains of the Ultra Beasts themselves, there are none. The Portal itself is also completely gone.

But, as the devastated howl from an investigating archeologist alerts everyone the next morning, there is something different about the Ho-Oh Chamber...

Rather than the rich, earthy browns they'd been before, roughly half of the chamber is now a matte gray... with the effect fading as it gets further away from the spot where the portal had opened before.

THAT'S NOT GOOD!

No it isn't. :(

WHAT DO THE LEGEND SEEKERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ALL THIS?

Like any big organization, there's a pretty big range of reactions... a few of the more insensitive members are sort of hype about the whole thing, whether the thrill of meeting both Suicune and a bunch of mysterious ultra-strong non-Pokemon all in one night, or just over how many new mysteries to exchange theories about have sprung up.

But overall, they're pretty worried, and kind of upset that their first big event ended in such a catastrophe (even if it was kind of awesome).

Before anyone asks, yes, they WILL be compensating all attendees for any camping equipment damaged or destroyed during the Kartana swarm.

Thank Arceus for Eusine's seemingly bottomless bank account.

AHEM! I BELIEVE SOMETHING WAS MENTIONED EARLIER ABOUT PRIZES?

That's right! Your character's efforts will not go un-rewarded!

In addition to getting compensation from the Legend Seekers for damages, each attendee will also be approached by Eusine himself, who (clearly emotional) will offer them a heartfelt thank-you for attending (and, if they participated in the battle with the Kartana, an equally-heartfelt thank-you for directly contributing to him getting to see Suicune in all its glory) and one single-use TM from his collection. If asked If given even the slightest opportunity, he will tell them all about how said collection is carefully-curated to include each and every TM that he believes (due to his extensive research) that Suicune would be able to learn. And don't worry, he'll reassure you-- he has extras!

These TMs are: Calm Mind, Roar, Toxic, Hail, Hidden Power, Sunny Day, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Protect, Rain Dance, Frustration, Return, Shadow Ball, Double Team, Reflect, Sandstorm, Facade, Rest, Round, Scald, Quash, Giga Impact, Psych Up, Bulldoze, Swagger, Sleep Talk, Substitute, Snarl, and Confide.

But that's not all!

Anyone who sticks around for a little while (which most probably will thanks to the Joys aggressively making sure everyone in sight is patched up and hydrated before going anywhere!) the next day will find themselves approached by various wild Unown, who have shyly brought them up to three items from deep within the Ruins...

  • Everstone
  • Float Stone
  • Hard Stone
  • Icy Rock
  • Heat Rock
  • Smooth Rock
  • Quick Claw
  • Thick Club
  • Eviolite
  • Soothe Bell
  • Twisted Spoon
  • Any revivable Fossil (only one of these per character!)
  • A small relic, such as a crude ancient toy or piece of pottery-- not usable, but will look great in a curio cabinet or on a coffee table!

  • ... Oh, and also...

    ... ALSO?

As they did after Prom, the Aether Foundation has once again put out an urgent call for information about the injured Legendary...

This time, they are offering a cash reward of P20,000, 1 Hidden Ability Candy, and 1 re-usable TM of your choice for any and all info about the incident, especially anything that could possibly relate to Suicune's whereabouts. And the mysterious portal and its mysterious occupants too, of course.

This reward of course depends on your character's cooperation, and is therefore optional.

ANYTHING ELSE GOING ON AFTER ALL OF THIS?

Well, obviously extensive cleanup and restoration efforts in and around the Ruins of Alph are warranted-- a number of remorseful Legend Seekers are staying behind to help (and to be honest make amends with) the rangers and researchers, and your characters are welcome to, as well!

They can either set their tent back up (or... more likely, go get a new tent, come back, and then set that one up...) or seek out lodgings in Violet City during their stay.

Other than that, everyone is of course free to get back to their lives, albeit with some wild stories to tell!

    I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS!

    I have a question!

Dive was an HM in some of the games. It never returned as a TM unlike some other HMs that lost their status. Could armin get Dive as a reusable TM from the Aether Foundation or would that be out seeing as it never got TM status in the games?

    Follow up question!

Would it be okay for Armin to (at some point in the future) offer the combo of his new TM/his own diving skills to teach other people's pokemon to Dive? Sort of like a move tutor? Or would that be too much/too game-break-y?

I have no idea if/when he'd even do it, It just occurred to me as a possibility and I wanted to get your insight on it before I get too attached to any sort of idea.

No problem! I knew it was pretty borderline, so I wanted to make sure before any actual plans were made.

Since Johto is Japanese in inspiration (if not just straight up Japan), should we assume the pottery and ancient toys brought by the Unown are also most like ones found in Japan? Just to get an idea of what we're working with.

I mean in the end it IS still Pokémon so it can be whatever your heart feels, I'm sure. But that's a v good point of reference, thank you!
