Thick as Thieves
Hello there, trainers and breeders, (and our rockets, of course), it is once against time for another Fourth Wall! From June 26th to June 28th, the laws of physics and logic (already rather shaky at best in the pokemon world) will get just that extra wibbly-wobbly, as Nephelis uses its power to help bring in a whole load of new friends to play with all at once.
For those who have never had the chance to experience a Fourth Wall, to keep things short: things are going to get a little wacky this weekend. Or perhaps a lot wacky. Many of the restrictions that keep Victory Road chugging along throughout most of the year are temporarily lifted. Which means all of those nice and awesome powers you've been forced to be without? They are back! That horrendous human flesh puppet that you've been forced into? Please enjoy three days of having your own normal form back.
But that's not all!
Remember all those items that have mysteriously gone missing over the last week? As it turns out, they didn't just go missing as so many lost left socks, they were stolen by a dastardly band of tiny, furry criminals!
Team Rocket? No. Worse.
Team Nickit!

Well, all right, they are not exactly a team. But there has been a band of furry little miscreants running around the past week, stealing everything that wasn't nailed down (and perhaps even a few things that were). Throughout the weekend, characters should be able to see them everywhere, still up to their dastardly little tricks. And if your character chooses to follow them, they will eventually be led to a large cave. Funny. You can't quite remember ever seeing this cave before. Or can even figure out exactly where it goes on the map, but if your character is brave enough to venture inside they will find a gigantic pile of stuff. And on top of that giant pile of stuff will be a massive Thievul, guarding his stash with all the ferocity of a dragon!
(You see, it is actually his birthday this weekend, and all the little Nickits have been doing is finding gifts to please him. Too bad Nickits firmly believe that possession is, in fact, ten-tenths of the law.)
So, if you want your stuff back (and it is all in there, every last little thing that they stole from you over the last week), you best prepare to fight the Thievul and his minions for your things. Or maybe you can sneak it out of the pile while they aren't looking. Or perhaps you can interest them in a trade?
Either way, if you manage to get your hands on that giant pile of things, a quick dig into it will reveal that the Nickits haven't been limiting their dastardly deeds to this world. With reality as wobbly as it is right now, somehow the little fiends have figured out how to steal things from other worlds as well! Who knows, you might just find something from your own homeworld in there too.

What is a Fourth Wall Event?
A Fourth Wall event is an in-game event where people from other games, random characters, even players themselves, just randomly interact with your characters. It's a literal breaking of that invisible "fourth wall" that separates the game-verse from... the rest of the internet. It’s meant to be a silly and fun time thought all kinds of CR can take place during it.
How do you participate?
In short, a character makes a post in the comm or a top-level in the mod-posted catch-all and others tag it. Feel free to just tag around if you don’t want to start a thread of your own. You do not have to stick to your in-game character accounts during this event; you can use characters from other games, crack accounts, player accounts, etc to play!
What kind of characters can participate?
Anything and everything, from AU’s to characters from other DW games, ponies, disembodied heads, zombies, Arceus with a saddle, the players, Hello Kitty, and the list goes on...
What about characters coming in, can they have a Pokémon too?
Sure thing! You can bring in any Pokémon from any generation and challenge whoever you want for however much you want. Feel free to knock down or burn down anything. Ride Arceus into battle wearing nothing but a pineapple on your head. It's all good!
Current players are also allowed to have whatever else they want in their party, but all Legendaries will depart after the weekend is over. No keeping the Groudon that followed you home!
Can my character catch Pokémon to KEEP during the event?
Yes, they may! Feel free to saddle your character with some odd Pokémon they weren't expecting to have like a surprise Magikarp appearing inside their backpack.
There are some exceptions-- Pokemon not listed on the availability pages (Johto, Kanto, Sevii) cannot be kept after the event. For example, your character may encounter a wild Chansey in Lavender Town and keep their new friend, but you would not be able to catch and keep Articuno.
Characters also may not keep Pokemon that were given to them by visiting characters-- feel free to get vague and wibbly-wobbly about how a shockingly similar wild Pokemon (as long as it's on the Availability List!) wound up in your character's possession, but nothing that a visiting character gifts to a resident one will stick around once the weekend is over.
We’re also trusting that players will keep this reasonable, and stick to just one or two Pokemon to keep after the event.
Would my non-human character remain in their VR form for the event? What about powers?
Up to you! Your character can return to their original form, powers intact, or whatever you like! Have fun.
What about the environment?
With all the strange things going on, feel free to have your characters experience anomalies while they are travelling. Routes that took days to travel before can now be crossed in minutes. Characters can suddenly find themselves waking up in a different city altogether! The landscape around them may warp and change to reflect various other canons. If your character is far from where they started out when the event ends, feel free to have them remain there!
Can my character keep items they find during the Fourth Wall?
If this item is normally easily obtainable in the world of the game, like a Pokeball from the store or some choice rare berries, then yes. The exception to this is that we don’t want people keeping rare items or TMs.
Items like a new house that didn’t previously exist on their street, twenty Masterballs, a car, or piles of rubies that appeared during the event can not be kept. This includes items they may have had access to using their abilities or interacting with the warping environment, or any items from home they didn’t already have with them. They will all disappear at the end of the event!
Will my character remember the event once it’s over? What about previous Fourth Wall events?
It is up to you if your character’s memory suddenly becomes clear and they remember previous Fourth Walls during the span of the event.
Once the event ends, your characters’ memories will be somewhat fractured and mixed up. Recalling the events of the weekend will feel like recalling an especially vivid dream, but they are honest to goodness memories. If you need a number for reference, figure that a character can remember about 80% of what happens during this three-day period.
What happened to those three days our characters mysteriously lost?
There's still no explanation for that one. The Professors won't even be reachable for a few days; don't expect them to answer your calls. To make it worse, you may not be where you were last...
Does this count for the activity check?
Fourth wall threads and posts carried out by characters who are current residents of VR are fair game for AC. Fourth-wallers and AU versions of a character currently in VR (for example, the same character played as from a different canonpoint, etc) do not count towards AC, even when played by the same player.
What if I just arrived and haven't made an in-character introduction post yet?
Feel free to arrive in the middle of the event! Your character will probably just be that much more confused. You may also hold off until after the event if you wish, in order to not become lost in the confusion.
What if I don't want to participate?
Fourth Wall is not a required event. However, it does affect the game's setting, so logging would have to be backdated or forward-dated to before or after the fourth wall. If you choose not to participate, your character may enter a glitch or be asleep during the event. They will still lose three days’ time and be disoriented like everyone else.
I have a different question…
No worries! Just comment HERE and we’ll get on that!
And a special little FAQ for the little Nickit sub-plot
So, everything that my character lost over the last week is in the pile?
Yep, everything! Even that half-eaten sandwich they stole on Tuesday. Though, uh, it might be a little, let's say, fragrant by now. And your character is free to reclaim everything they lost. If, for some reason, there are some things you'd rather not have your character recover, that is fine too. The pile is big, and maybe they weren't looking in the right place.
Could my character 'recover' something that is not theirs?
Yes, within reason. If your character is the type to not play by the rules, they can use this opportunity to steal some stuff that wasn't theirs to begin with. The pile is huge, after all, and the Nickits didn't just steal from player characters. However, to keep things from becoming too unbalanced, we ask you to keep your stealing within reason. The Nickits aren't going to let you walk away with a huge haul, but slipping a few extra items into your pockets (think pokeballs, potions, maybe an evolutionary stone) should be possible.
When it comes to items that belong to other characters, you can only steal these if you come to an OOC agreement with the player first. We are all adults here, so if you want to use this opportunity to springboard some (future) negative interactions between characters, feel free to. Just keep the negativity IC!
Okay, but what was that about items from other worlds?!
Oh. That. The Nickits have been stealing stuff from other worlds too. How? Don't ask them to reveal their secrets. A master thief never tells! (but it does seem to have something to do with the whacky state of the world this weekend).
All of this means that, yes, your character might come across something they recognise from their world in that giant heap as well. And as a special little gift from us, they will be able to keep what they find, even after the Fourth Wall ends.
What are the limits? There have got to be limits, right?
Naturally.
First of all, the regular item limits apply in that the Nickits didn't steal any weapons. If it's got a sharp edge that can be used to cut, cleave, gash, slash, lacerate, penetrate, snick, nick, or otherwise injure a person, the Nickits didn't bring it home with them as a gift for their boss. That goes double for anything that explodes!
Size and weight-wise, we don't have exact dimensions for you, but just think of the thieves in question. Nickits aren't super large pokemon. As long as it is an item they could've carried in their maws/dragged along, it's something they could've stolen. Meaning something like a special book or article of clothing from back home? Yeah, that could've been brought over no problem. A giant hooverbike? Ehhh, not so much.
Unfortunately my character doesn't have anything they could've stolen from back home.
That is unfortunate. But this is an entirely optional part of the Fourth Wall. If your character doesn't have anything that could've been stolen or if you rather not have something old and sentimental weighing them down, it's fine for your characters to just find whatever the Nickits took from them in this world.
However, keep in mind that for this event, the Nickits will have stolen things from your character's homeworlds. That doesn't necessarily have to mean that they only stole things that your character possessed back home. It's also absolutely possible for the Nickits to have stolen a general item from your character's world (how long has it been since you've had a Cup Ramen just like the convenience store on the corner used to make) or something that belongs to someone your character knows. Or something that used to belong to your character a long time ago, or will belong to them far into the future. The possibilities are endless!
But again, still entirely optional.
So, what about the characters from outside the game I am throwing on the Fourth Wall?
Glad you asked! If you want, it is also possible for the Nickits to have stolen something from a character you a throwing at the Fourth Wall. Feel free to use that as a prompt for how the character ends up in this mess (here they were, just following a strange little thief, and suddenly there is background music?) or to have them participate in the dig through the Pile-O-Stuff.
Can we catch the Nickits/Thievul?
The Big Boss Thievul will not be catchable, however, you can catch his little minions.
And after this wacky weekend is all over with, you'll find that those Nickits you caught? Actually, for once they stayed in your possession. And not just that, any Nickit caught during the Fourth Wall Weekend (and only those) will have their Hidden Ability! This will not be clear to characters until after the Fourth Wall is over with (the pokedex just doesn't seem to properly register things during the Fourth Wall) and any Nickits caught after the Fourth Wall is over (We will be adding them to the regular availability pages and starters page) will have their regular abilities.
Any Nickit caught during the Fourth Wall will be between Level 5 and 15.
I have another question!
Feel free to ask it down below and we will get to it ASAP.
