Announcements!
Gather around one and all. We've been working on some quality updates behind the scenes, and we'd like to reveal what we've finished so far to you, as well as make a couple of announcements.
Announcement the first - The Fourth Wall
Long-time players might know that normally we organise a Fourth Wall at the end of November. Unfortunately this year, due to the Thanksgiving weekend, we felt the timing would be too chaotic for a lot of people to properly participate. As such, we have decided to move our customary November Fourth Wall to the first weekend of December -- that's to say, December 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Like every year, the Fourth Wall is an opportunity to break the normal constraints of the game a bit, enjoy the temporary return of your lost powers, and perhaps convince some outside friends to also participate in the fun for a weekend! More information on the exact nature of this Fourth Wall will be given when it goes up, but for those looking for some general information, why not check out our standard Fourth Wall FAQ from the last time we had one?
Announcement the second - Page updates!
As many of you may know, VR is an old game. That means that over the years, we've accumulated a lot of info pages, which has not been made easier by Gamefreak's insistence on releasing new pokemon games every few years! Seriously, Gamefreak, we love the new Pokemon, but if you could stop changing the mechanics every gen, that would be very much appreciated!!
So. Anyway. It'll come as no surprise that many of our pages have been somewhat outdated.
We've been working hard on fixing this and though we are by no means done, we wanted to reveal some the work we've been doing so far.
Announcement the third - TM/HMs changes!
Previously, the way purchasable TMs worked in VR is that we had a standard list of ones that were up for sale. Which worked pretty nicely, except that Gamefreak kept adding more and more TMs, to the point that more TMs were UNavailable than available!
And sure, there is that Christmas Market, but who wants to wait all that time?
That's why we are now introducing our new TM/HMs page which includes a new seasonal TM system.
Essentially, from this moment onward, in addition to the standard TMs that various stores offer all the time, the department stores in Goldenrod City and Celadon City will be offering a set of 40 seasonal TMs. This set will change every three months (in March, June, September and December) and will be a chance for characters to get their hands on those TMs that are not normally for sale.
Of course, seeing as they are seasonal, that also means that if a character is interested in a particular TM, they better act quick. Once it cycles out of the shop, who knows how long it will take for it to show up again.
(Oh, and please note that we took this opportunity to shake up the normal offerings too. So if there has been something you've been waiting for, why not check if it is available now?)
Announcement the fourth - The Goldenrod Christmas Market!
Now this might be something that is already old hat to our more seasoned players, but for newer ones, we'd like to give everybody a reminder that this December first, the Goldenrod Christmas Market will be open again for business.
Christmas time is a time of joy and happiness and togetherness, but also commerce. Or, at least, that's the way it is in Goldenrod City. The market draws booths and stalls from all over, and will be a good place to get some Christmas shopping in. And characters won't be restricted to buying nice warm hats and scarves, becayse there will also be stalls selling TMs and Held Items.
That's right! While these things are not normally for sale, during the Christmas Market, characters will be able to buy all these things and more (all except Mega-stones, which are regulated by the Pokemon League.) Why not get your friend a Held Item that will really help take their battling to the next level? We're sure they will be grateful.
And one more thing about the Christmas Market -- starting this year, it will also be possible for characters to have a stall at the Christmas Market! So if your character is the kind that makes things, whether it's hand-knitted clothes, delicious baked goods, or even art, why not get your own stall and make a little extra money this season?
And our final announcement
For a long time, Elaine (player of our beloved Jane Crocker) has been an incredible support to our mod team, taking care of our monthly Activity Check and Calendar work. She's worked tirelessly to make sure a lot of behind-the-scenes things were taken care of on time, every time.
After much hard work though, Elaine has decided she deserves a little retirement from AC counting and calendar manufacturing, and she will be stepping down from her position as a list-mod. We, the rest of the mod team, can only thank her for her amazing work and the effort she poured into Victory Road from a position that was often invisible to many of the players. Luckily for all of us, she'll still be around as a regular player (who else would we depend to investigate things for us?), and we only hope Elaine meet every coming AC with a nice Pina colada and the knowledge that she ain't gotta do-- uh, nothing.
So please, we ask you all to thank Elaine for all the hard work she's put into the game cause know we certainly do.
And for those wondering how we will proceed -- our currently intention is to divide the AC and calendar tasks over the rest of our Mod Team and take it from there. Should this prove to be a little too much for the rest of us to handle (Elaine left us some huge boots to fill, y'all), we're keeping our minds open to possibly bringing a new AC mod into the fold. But that is 2022 concern.
And there you have it: a long post with a lot of announcements. We are certain that there will be questions about these things, and we're more than happy to answer them. All we ask is that you please read all of the new pages over carefully to make sure your question hasn't been answered yet already--but if not, have at it!

We've been working hard on fixing this and though we are by no means done, we wanted to reveal some the work we've been doing so far.
But! Many quick and eagle-eyed readers will have noticed that TM/HMs are NOT listed on the Item page any more. And that's because --
- Our new and improved Berries and Apricorns page, which now includes not just wild berries that can be found in VR, but also a large number of cultivated berries that can be bought in stores.
- Our new and improved Battle and Move FAQ where we have tried to answer all your questions regarding Pokemon moves, battling and badges someplace separate from the overall Trainer page. Please note that a more general FAQ update is still in the works, which will cover more general Pokemon and game topics.
- Our new and improved Item page, which we have not only tried to make much more readable than our old item page, but to which we've also added some things that were previously not mentioned.
