With Christmas scooting ever closer, it's time to start thinking about the real reason for the season and that is gifts. Yes, yes, joy to all, peace on earth etc etc, but deep down what we all want to do is tear some wrapping paper off boxes and be dazzled by the contents.

In order to keep things a bit organised, we'll be putting this up as a central gift-giving post, and it will feature three things.

★★ Arceus' gift As many of you long term players might already know, Arceus tends to drop a few gifts on the people he has brought here on Christmas day. And this year is no different! These gifts will be revealed on December the 25th, so please check back then to see what your character will be receiving. And yes, these gifts will go out to all. Arceus doesn't judge. Maybe he should, but he doesn't. ★★ Secret Santa Though these gifts won't officially be delivered until the 25th, this post will also feature a thread where you can post up the gifts your character has gotten their Secret Santa recipient. Feel free to start posting these up as soon as this post goes up (we are not going to make you wait) ★★ Your gifts And finally, your gifts! If your character is the kind to get their friends a bunch of things, feel free to use this post to distribute the offerings. Much easier than hitting up a bunch of inboxes! If you would rather distribute your characters' gifts individually in various inboxes, feel free to do so! This post is merely an option for people who'd like to keep things in one central location.

Now with that all out of the way, let us take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and for those that don't celebrate, just kind of a Cool Weekend.

As mods, we'd like to thank you all for all your effort and joy, for every badge you've submitted, every prom that was ruined, and just all the various crimes committed by our dedicated (and some not so) rockets. A new year approaches, and with it, new opportunities, new plots and CR, but hopefully still and forever, the same amount of fun!

(frozen comment) Arceus' gift

On Christmas morning, a mysterious gift will appear. It might appear underneath a character's Christmas tree, on their bed, even suddenly in their backpack. The gift will be wrapped in wrapping paper matching the characters' favourite pokemon type (or, if they do not have a favourite type, the type that they own most frequently). There is no 'From --' on the gift, nothing to indicate the source of this mysterious gift.

Inside, the characters will find one of the following objects, with the choice being up to the player.

They may find either an object from home¹ or an egg that will hatch into a shiny pokemon of your choice or a multi-use TM of your choice or two ability candies.

Have a very merry Christmas with the knowledge that Arceus can always get into your home if it needs to!


¹ In terms of size, the object from home would be something the character could've theoretically had on them while arriving in this world. If the object normally has magical properties, those will be stripped i.e. a Wand of Frost just turns into a fancy stick. Arceus will not gift weapons.

For Rainer, a dream journal a quick little note saying he found this in Goldenrod and thought of her.

For Claudia, a set of watercolor paints.

For Doppio, two scented candles in green and red, labeled "Viridian Forest" and "Cheri Berry" respectively, along with some of the hot coco mix Louie was selling at the Christmas Market and accompanying mix-ins Louie used, as well as directions on amounts to add.

For Scrooge, a set of notebooks and pens of fairly nice quality. In the note, he points out that he realized Scrooge is starting from the bottom again here, so he figured stuff like this would help him work his way up.

Jaskier

A pair of books: the first is a collection of various legends, myths, and stories from the continent of Menoris, as collected by Sion and Ryner. Though both of them are credited for contributing, it's probably clear from the consistent writing style that only one actually penned the final draft. There's also a number of illustrations, all finely drawn and quite detailed, if rather lacking in any true artistic sense.

The second book is a brief and self-admittedly incomplete history of the Roland Empire, written by Sion. The writing style is the same as the other book, so it's pretty obvious who did most of the work writing them both. The book covers bits and pieces from the founding of Roland up to a recent uprising, led by one Rahel Miller, that successfully overthrew the old king and placed his commoner-born son Sion Astal on the throne instead. This book also has a few illustrations, mostly things like maps, a drawing of the royal crest, and other such practical things. Poke me directly if you want more details on either book because this post is getting long enough as it is whoops.

I do not know whether or not you took offense to any of it, but I feel I must apologize for the manner in which I spoke to some months ago on the topic of a custom from your world. After spending some time digging through old, old messages to obtain a few good stills from the videos to use as references, Sion found a painter willing to take a very particular commission. Specifically, doing a photo-quality painting based on those still, which could then be further used to obtain some prints.

Which is why Ryner will find, upon opening the relatively small parcel, a handful of prints in assorted sizes (along with the original painting, naturally) of Ferris.

They may not be actual photographs, but it's the closest Sion could manage, considering it never occurred to any of the three of them to take photos when she was still here in Johto...

- Armin went through his gear and collected all the pictures he had of Eren from all those years ago, had them printed, and collected them in a little album for Mikasa. It’s not quite the Eren she remembers, but it is the closest thing he can give her.
- Some warm fluffy slippers to wear either at home at the gym or while she is travelling.

- For her Bisharp: An expert Belt and a nice sharpening stone.


For Yachi

- A nice and sturdy week/month planner for the new year with plenty of space for note-taking. The cover has a cute Cubchoo on it.
- A nice soft scarf so she stays warm during her travels.

For Senjuro

He’s new, and Armin doesn’t know him super well, but Angel is bringing him over, and Armin is not going to have a person in his house and *not* give them a Christmas present.

- A pretty standard beginning trainer’s kit, which includes several potions and restorative items, six poke balls, some poke-puffs, a brush, nail clippers (both for pokemon!) and a Return TM. He doesn’t know if Senjuro is into training at all, but this is the sort of stuff that should be of use to anyone travelling on the road.
- A windbreaker. Winter on the islands doesn’t get very cold, but it can get rainy here, and he wasn’t sure if Senjuro would have the correct jacket for that sort of weather.
- A little note that says that if Senjuro wants any sort of water pokemon, to please just let Armin know and he’ll breed him one. He didn’t want to assume and already breed one for Senjuro, and possibly overwhelm him, but if he wants one, just let Armin know!

For Kazuki

- A stack of jazz records. Armin doesn’t know much about music, so he let the stall owner advice him on which ones feature the best trumpet solos/work.
- A mug
- A nice hoodie for the green boy.

I’m also lazy, but for his birthday, Kazuki would’ve received

- A basket of various snacks and teas from the Islands.

A top of the line video camera, microphone, and a set of ring-lights all meant for creating videos for Staryutube, as well as a book about how to create high-quality content with these kinds of tools. All of your music videos will look professionally produced from now on!

For Zuke:
A set of gourmet herbs and spices inside of a wooden box that seals firmly shut in order to retain their quality as long as possible. Many of them are produced from Pokemon, like super-spicy Volcarona Dust and floral-sweet Bellossom Honey. There's also a stone mortar and pestle for creating your own blends.

For Yachi:
A caligraphy set with many different colored inks, study Skarmory-quills, and high-quality paper to write on, so Yachi can experiment with letter art!

For Romelle:
A gift card for SteeneeQLO along with a handmade ticket for a shopping date, so Kazuki can teach you all about Earth fashion!

For Rei:
Kazuki puzzled over what Rei could possibly want for quite some time. The only thing he could think of was the interest she seemed to show in his music, so he made her a certificate for piano-lessons! As many as she wants!

For Dimitri:
Kazuki has hand-blended several different kinds of tea, and given them cute names, like Sawsbuck Spice Chai and Roserade Bud Blend. He also leaves a note that he's still working on writing that new song, and he hopes to unveil it soon.

For Claude:
A thick book of brain teasers, puzzles, and games like Sudoku to occupy the active mind. Along with it, a heartfelt note: I hope you've found belonging here.

For Felix:
A grooming kit for feline Pokemon, to maintain luxurious coats, prevent matting and reduce hairballs. Kazuki figures that Felix has to deal with that a lot!

For Grant:
For the guy that seems to look after everyone's well being, a ticket to redeem a day at an onsen in Ecruteak, including a hot-springs bath and a traditional ryukan meal. Kazuki also hand-made some mochi daifuku, for a taste of childhood.

For Sasha:
I wish that I knew anything about fashion, so I could properly describe a nice outfit. I don't even know how to search for one. But that's what Jean gets for Sasha. It was picked while keeping her particular body shape in mind to be flattering, but is also very practical and easy to move around in.

More importantly, he also got her a variety of hair-accessories. A barrette, hair-ribbon, headband, etc. All of them suit someone with long, dark brown hair.
The point is that Jean got stuff that accentuate her natural features rather than trying to really change anything about her. Whether or not Sasha gets that is up to you, lol.

For Armin:
Ah, the difficulty of getting a gift for someone who has self-actualized.
Jean was able to find a minaturist out there that was willing to take a commission, so he got a voucher for... a figure for whatever nerdy DnDlike game Armin's playing right now, so he can get his character done, or maybe some kind of Pokemon or creature. Is that good? Jean has no idea.

For Mikasa:
Since she's out in the wild having adventures, Jean gets Mikasa a really nice, sturdy, warm jacket, with boots, gloves, a hat, a scarf, etc. Also, three TMS for her Pokemon: Psycho Cut, Mystical Fire, and Focus Blast.

For Angel:
Angel is easy, because Jean can actually get her the cute shit he sees and knows she'll like it. First, a plush Galarian Zigzagoon with it's tongue stuck out in a blep. Second, a hairpin shaped like an Absol's horns. Lastly, a spiked collar that can be warn by a person or Pokemon. A very aesthetic bunch of gifts.

ZUKE'S GIFTS

On the night before Christmas Eve, a video would be uploaded to Zuke’s Staryutube page. This one. Just with an added festive Goomy hopping in front of the camera wearing a Santa hat. Yes, Zuke wore those socks.

All of Zuke's presents are neatly wrapped, almost too clean and precise with green bows and a heartfelt message on each package: Selamat Hari Natal! With much love, Zuke. Every package contains malt chocolates, a couple hot cocoa bombs (with cinnamon and marshmallows), candy canes, and soft snickerdoodles. All of his gifts are handcrafted. He's spent a lot of time on break from the touring, and got to work for the holidays in Azalea.

Claude: A seashell necklace, laced with coral. He was reminded of him in his travels to the beach towns, and soft colors were deliberate.

Dimitri: A carved wooden box, laced with details of carved birds and his own name. "For your drumsticks."

Grant: The softest scarf, hat, and gloves made from soft Wooloo wool.

Felix: A guitar pick painted in gold and blue and a woven guitar strap.

Kazuki: A wood carved trumpet figurine laced with ivy leaves on a wood stand. On the bottom was a small plaque that read, "For a most talented musician".

Chip: Oil pastel crayons. Zuke didn't make these, but someone was making them in town and he thought they would love them. Every color is there.

Jaskier: A soft poncho decorated with gold, black, and red. A frame for the wall with the words he gave him on the night of the nightmares with "A verse for a special friend" written on the bottom.

Jinx: Zuke didn’t make this either but he commission for a keychain to be made. It’s a Wingull carrying a boba tea. It was a fun memory and he hoped she remembered the joke.

For Claude's CR, close or otherwise, PART THE FIRST???

For Dimitri: Dimitri's gift is a promised outing(not done on Christmas, since many places are closed and Claude indicates that their destination is one such location). But Claude will escort Dimitri out on a subsequent day, taking him to a place near Moo Moo Farms - a cheesemonger's shop. There, Dimitri will be taken on a tasting menu of basically every cheese in the shop, to his no doubt unending delight. Claude samples them right along with him, mostly out of curiosity since a lot of them are varieties he's never tried before! While Dimitri still can't taste them, the smells and textures will be so incredibly varied that he's still doubtless going to have a great time.

Afterwards, once the sun is starting to set, Claude will take them back home so that they can change clothes, instructing Dimitri to put on a particularly fancy outfit (link pending) that Claude has commissioned for the occasion, while Claude himself changes into his own outfit that Dimitri never got to appreciate during prom. Then he takes Dimitri to a small dance studio in Olivine, rented out for the evening. While the sun sets and casts its rays through the large glass windows, Claude and Dimitri will get to dance together to soft recorded music. If they want, there's even a balcony outside they can dance on...briefly, until Claude complains about the chill. But maybe Dimitri can hold him close enough to keep him warm...?

Oh, and on top of all this romance, Dimitri did get a traditional ugly Christmas sweater. Except Claude thinks he'll quite like it, actually.

- Dimitri's pokémon have not been forgotten! At least not the ones Claude is shamelessly biased towards. Those have their own gifts!

Gremlin gets a Rattata-sized hoodie to wear. On the back are the words I didn't do it/Oh wait...that/Yes I did do that(line breaks denoted by /). But he also gets an extra special present - a tiny VR headset, specially made for small pokémon! The world of VR gaming is now open to the rat. Accompanying it is a popular dance game that uses motion controls.
Gabby gets a little sweater (specially fitted for her smaller-than-most-Miltanks size, with udder holes) that has the words I'm nicely wrapped to remind the world that I'm a gift on the back. (It doesn't appear to be seasonally themed.) She also gets a little book on cheese-making, with Claude suggesting that maybe they can learn to make cheese out of her milk for Dimitri to enjoy.
Gwin gets a 6-pack of squishy sensory balls, touted as 'unbreakable!' for pokémon play. Claude makes it exquisitely clear that these balls are not edible, and just meant for fun squishing purposes. But Claude also gives Gwin a tomato seedling to put in their garden once it gets warmer, with the promise that it'll eventually provide lots of fully edible squishables.

For Felix: Felix also gets an outing, on a different day than Dimitri's. Claude takes him to a famous restaurant in Saffron City that's famous for all kinds of spicy foods - not just curries, but noodles, hot pot, soups, whole cooked seafood, stews, even vegetables and salads! Basically, if you can make it spicy, this restaurant serves it and excels at making it. Claude and Felix get to indulge in it all, and Claude will definitely tease Felix into trying the kimchi.

Afterwards, when they're as warm as it's possible to get and the moon is out, Claude will take Felix out to an out-of-the-way location...that turns out to be an official outdoor ice-skating pond. There, Claude will actually go ice-skating with Felix of his own free will, without a word of complaint about the cold for a remarkable period of time. His ankles will inevitably give out at some point, though, at which Claude will tug Felix into the nearby cabin, which turns out to be a public lodge meant for people using the rink. Inside, there's a roaring fire, a number of benches and bean bags, and people selling tea, cocoa, and snacks. The two of them then get to curl up on a big bean bag together in front of the fire to get warm again...and possibly doze off. They might have to get gently woken up and shooed out by the staff.

Of course, Felix doesn't escape without a sweater, either.

For Sylvain: Claude, unfortunately, isn't in a position where he can be romantic with Sylvain this year; he has to restrain himself. What he eventually settles for is a Galarian Ponyta egg(bred from his own Gambit), a sweater he's sure Sylvain will enjoy, and...well, something a little personal, at least. Sylvain gets a laminated paper on which any number of his good qualities are listed, alongside the source. Dimitri, Felix, Claude himself, Ashe, Annette, Dedue, Byleth, Grant, Chip, Jinx...they're all represented. There are even a couple entries by Inda. All dutifully recorded by Claude, and now given to Sylvain as a reminder of what the people around him love him for. (Yes, there are many repeats. Yes, Claude listed them all separately based on who said what. 'Smart', 'kind', and 'funny' all show up a lot, but 'handsome' shows up more times than Sylvain might expect.)

For Grant: Grant gets a funny mug, first of all, but...that's just the prelude. What comes next is a small box. When he opens it, he'll find inside a pendant, clearly recognizable as the same kind he's made for others. It's shaped like a full moon, with the moon itself being made up of...red flannel. Okay, so that association with him is obviously pretty strong! But Claude will demonstrate that, if looked at in darkness, then a glow-in-the-dark design appears painted on that flannel - the Crest of Riegan, a crescent moon inside a full one. And, as Claude will reveal, it's something he and Chip worked on together - a charm full of their love and affection for Grant.

(On weird weekends, when the charm's actual magical properties are able to function, Grant will find that he actually gets some tiny physical healing benefits when he's comforting someone else.)

For Chip: Chip gets a whole box of hot chocolate bombs, which is nice, but like Grant's mug, it's not the main event. It becomes obvious when Chip's primary gift from Claude is opened that he's been playing both Grant and Chip for saps!! They've both been helping Claude on making a charm for the other!! Clearly, Claude's deviousness will never cease.

Chip's charm, they'll find, is actually outright shaped to look like the Crest of Riegan; perhaps both Chip's and Grant's pendants being moon-shaped is a sort of theming? The interior of this one, though, isn't plaid; instead, it's a colorful yellow and green pattern, one that's extremely familiar. That's because it's identical to the pattern of the sash Claude wears around his waist, when he's wearing his outfit he arrived in from home. (It is, indeed, literally identical; Claude used a bit of its cloth for this.) Like Grant's charm, Chip's has both Claude's and Grants thoughts and feelings woven into it; but rather than love and affection, this charm is one of home and family, of having a place and people with which to belong.

(On weird weekends, when the magic functions, Chip will find that they will always be able to know where Grant and Claude are.)

For Ashe: Ashe gets a book that Claude did some digging to find, but in a world like this it's not surprising that it exists - it's a book about a boy and his Piplup, training to become knights. It's a young adult book rather than a real adult novel, but still, Claude thinks Ashe will like it. Claude also gives Ashe a joint gift, one to be shared with Dedue as the two of them are the self-designated chefs of the house.

For Annette: Annette gets a big, soft blanket covered in grass pokémon, as well as a nice warm scarf! Both are gentle references to Claude's favorite song of hers.

For Dedue: Dedue gets a small, themed assortment of gifts from Claude. First, he gets a charming mid-sized Bulbasaur planter; nothing planted in it yet, to give Dedue freedom to decide what he think would look best there. There's the joint gift with Ashe. But also, Claude gives him a few plants. One is a cypress seedling, which Claude informs Dedue has sacred significance in Almyra, but also can mean freedom. Then there's some tulip seeds, which Claude says can mean martyrdom in Almyra. (Whether the cypress and tulips are meant to suggest something in combination, Claude doesn't explicitly say, but one can potentially infer.) Regardless of meaning, they'll grow into a beautifully colorful variety. And, finally...Claude hands over a potted pepper plant. While it's obviously from neither Duscur nor Almyra, Claude did some pretty extensive testing of peppers to find one that seemed to come close to what he remembers of the peppers pilfered from the greenhouse years ago.

For Byleth: Claude doesn't know their professor as well as the Lions, of course, not having had the benefit of being in his house, but he knows a few things about him very well. As a result, he's catered directly to those things. First, Byleth gets a big basket of treats, ready to go - finger sandwiches, cakes, cookies, candies, all the things one might except to accompany a fancy afternoon teatime. There's also a beautiful tea set Claude found that reminded him of some he's seen in Almyra. (There is, oddly, no tea, but Claude avoided actual tea expecting that others would be gifting that.) Then, on a more lighthearted note, Byleth also gets a mug and a shirt.

For Jinx: Jinx's gift is perhaps the most elaborate of all! Claude, grinning, will lead her into one of the unclaimed bedrooms of the house, which is neatly if plainly furnished; it has no windows. He closes the door, then flips off the light...and Jinx will find that the entire ceiling has been painted in glow-in-the-dark galaxies and stars, even extending to a skyline down on the upper parts of the walls. (Unlike the reference image, the colors are primarily pinks and purples.) Claude tells her that many of the stars and constellations are actually ones from Fodlan, and some from Grant's and Chip's world, and that pretty much everyone pitched in on the project. He also tells her that, if she wants the room, it's hers, and they can go out shopping for more personalized room furnishings whenever she feels like...and, well, after Christmas, once the stores are open again. He explains - almost apologetically - that he thought furnishings she picked would be best, or they'd have furnished the room for her, too.

For Sion: Sion will receive two bottles of expensive, high quality red wine, along with the makings of a very nice meal for two to eat them with(in particular some very prime steaks). If there's no note, it's because they're long overdue for a phone conversation Claude plans on having with him very soon which his player has been too busy dying of holiday retail to arrange sooner.

For Jolyne: Jolyne gets a digital delivery of...a small stash of dragon butt pictures. Most are shiny Dragapult ass, but a few are clearly from a shiny Kommo-o. She also gets a note from Claude about how Claude's Seesaw, and Dimitri's own shiny Dragapult Windmill, are working on making that shiny Dreepy egg for her, with a promise to keep her updated on the breeding efforts from now on(and begging the excuse of not doing so sooner with "a lot of things have been happening to everyone all the time over here").

For Kazuki: Kazuki's main gift is an entire set of handmade wooden ornaments, one corresponding to each member of Claude's travel group. (Claude is assuming that, with Kazuki owning a hotel, he also has a tree on display.)
