A drop...BUT NOT
So, due to an ongoing background plot with Walter, he's going to be faking his own disappearance from Johto in December!
I'm putting this up super early to hopefully clarify what's going on for players, since I don't feel it's appropriate to pretend drop him then reappear in a week or two.
Look when you blow up a Rocket Lab, and you're Walter, you might decide to lie low for a bit and fake death in a sense. So following that, in the first week of December, he's going to be sending out some Pokemon (by midnight Murkrow flights, so none of them are forgotten or left in PC Boxes) to established CR before vanishing to a location he's scouted out beforehand (Cerulean City). He'll be smashing his PokeGear and not getting a new one until he feels it's safe to. For all intents and purposes, as far as characters are aware, Walter will be gone. After a week or two, he'll be sending out both a message with clues about his continued existence and several of his Murkrow flock. The Murkrow will fly out to the people who have his Pokemon, to rally them and collect them to return back to Walter.
Still, here's who he's sending to who and how the mons are gonna be behaving! If you don't want your character in on this (cos let's be real, it's a dick move) then just say and it won't be the case.
Heather Mason will inherit Assumption the Marowak. Walter doesn't really want to be parted from him, but in almost every other loss he's suffered in Johto, a person's starter Pokemon has ended up in his custody. So he thinks that's a typical thing. Assumption will be missing Walter but he knows the plan. And he gets to hang out with his best friends for a little bit until the Murkrows come to take him home.
Envy is "receiving" Darkness the Honchkrow. Darkness is a unique case in that he's permanently staying in Johto to be with Lyra, so his sadness at being separated from Walter is more genuine. Although he'll still laugh like an arsehole at them when the secrets out the bag. Walter's also keeping his pokeball so he never really formally joins Envy, and won't really be in his party.
Cissnei will receive Gloom the Gengar. Gloom...is not a great actress. She gets the giggles a lot. So she won't be able to hold a straight face over Walter being 'gone' and will most likely tell Fiend everything cos best friend! Once the broadcast goes live, she'll be unable to help some ghostly giggles before heading back to him through both flying with the Murkrows and darting through shadows.
Krieg will inherit Void the Dusknoir. Void is an arse and will generally be very distant and uninterested in Krieg or his Pokemon. He'll disappear without fanfare or warning when the time comes.
Diana will find Doll the Banette in her party. Much like Gloom, doll isn't going to bother with acting the part of a Pokemon who's just lost her trainer, boo-hoo. But given she enjoys feeding on emotions, she's not going to be doing much comforting either and won't tell Diana's Pokemon what's going on either. When the call to return comes, she'll laugh and vanish.
I'm just preparing the clue message he's going to be sending out to some friends so they can pick up on oddities in the broadcast he'll make in the future, so just let me know if this is cool or not with you guys. Krieg and Cissnei will both be getting clues. Walter's sure Heather will pick up on Silent Hill locales so doesn't feel the need to sit down and talk to her about it (although he's not sure just how much she knows from Henry) and Diana...sorry but he's not letting a Team Rocket member know he's alive after blowing shit up. :x
