Information for Rocket Heists!
May. 9th, 2018 10:08 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello players, namely our Rockets! As you may have seen on the calendar, on the 13th we have an event marked down as a Rocket Heist! This is one way we’re implementing the suggestions we received on our input post—a monthly (or bi-monthly, depending on what works out better) log for Rocket players wherein the mods will provide a mission or heist for Rockets to pull off. Included will be a goal, a description of the area, what kind of security they’re likely to run into, a description of any NPC classes they might happen upon, and a list of types of Pokemon they might steal from those NPCs if they so choose. Other information will be included as relevant.
What happens during the heist is entirely up to what is threaded out between players—get creative! For example, this first month’s log will take place in the Goldenrod Department Store, and Rockets might thread out how they’re breaking into the building, defeating/being defeated by a security guard, trying to get away with the prize…whatever you’d like! There are no win conditions to meet, nor will there be any mod-played NPC characters. Players are free to come up with and play any NPC they like, so long as it falls within the information given. For example, a player might invent and include Security Guard Burt Macklin in their thread, but Professor Oak or a random Hiker probably won’t be hanging out in the Department Store basement.
These logs will take place in a wide variety of locations on the map, and transport will always be provided so that any Rocket will be able to if they want, but the logs are entirely optional. This is intended to give Rocket players a reliable way to play out crimes with one another on a regular basis, although as always, we also encourage Rocket players to come up with and thread out heists with one another at any time! To clarify on what is allowed for that: smaller heists (for instance, robbing a fancy party of player-made NPCs or breaking into a store or house) do not require mod permission, although larger scale heists (such as blowing up an entire building or attacking a gym) would.
Threaded participation in the heist logs will be able to be submitted to the mods in an upcoming spot on the Rocket Missions page, for consideration when it comes to rewards or promotions. If a thread winds up dropped before anything can happen, the people involved may write up a third person “story” of what happened, although please do not godmode other player characters for these. There will be more information on the requirements for these written stories once the submission area is completed. If nobody winds up being able to participate in the log in a given month, the heist will likely be re-used at a later date, assuming the issue wasn't the heist itself.
Once the log goes live and is being played on, feel free to let us know what worked and what didn’t via the Mod Contact page, the original Rocket input post, or the comments of this announcement! The only aspects that are non-negotiable are that mods will not be actively contributing to the logs once they go live (except as a Rocket player themselves), that participation must be threaded or written out to count for rewards, and that it will not happen more than once a month. Whether the schedule changes to being bi-monthly remains once a month will depend on feasibility on the mods’ part. We’re hoping that this will be a step towards addressing Rocket player concerns, and there is definitely more to come in the way of updates this month. If there are any questions, please leave them in the comments below!

MERRY CHRISTMAS GOLDENROD
Dec. 6th, 2017 05:17 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Ah, December. Goodwill and holiday cheer are in the air, snow is creeping in as the temperatures drop and all anyone wants is to be bundled up with their loved ones and their Pokemon...and a warehouse is being blown up, causing massive fires and a swarm of wild Pokemon in Goldenrod! For the following week, the following Pokemon are going to be loose in Goldenrod before they get their bearings and head out to their natural habitats.
Electric Pokemon: Elekid (common), Alolan Geodude (common), Electrike (uncommon), Stunfisk (uncommon), Heliolisk (Rare)
Fire Pokemon: Salandit (common), Magby (common), Houndour (uncommon), Darumaka (uncommon), Turtonator (Rare)
You might have noticed a theme! Well, if you're curious and head down to the Burned Warehouse in the two weeks following the explosion, you'll find obvious signs that it wasn't just a warehouse; in truth it was a hidden Rocket Laboratory. Characters who choose to explore this place can find some of the aforementioned swarm Pokemon, lots of cages, creepy machinery...and the remains of some journal entries; that can shed some light on what was happening here, written by some... unknown technician.
Exploring the warehouse fully will lead to a massive, ten foot tall cage that's been utterly destroyed. This is where some security footage can be found on a singed computer. The security footage is focused on the large cage and reveals what was inside; a Volcarona. It reveals that it had it's fire forcibly (and very painfully, given how it thrashes and screams) drained from it to produce Fire Stones. The footage from December 6th, the more recent and last video available, shows a Bewear striding up to the cage and battering it open. In the background there's the shouts of researchers, the sound of someone getting violently assaulted with some kind of blunt object. The moment it's cage is broken, the Volcarona gives a loud screech and cloaks itself in flame, flying out and spreading flames all around it- and the feed cuts.
Next to the computer is your choice of a Fire Stone OR a Thunderstone - you can only pick one!
So to clarify! For one week there's a swarm of the listed fire/electric type Pokemon in Goldenrod. For two weeks, the destroyed lab can be explored and characters can find info and a Fire Stone or a Thunderstone. Swarm Pokemon can't be found in the labs after the first week. If you have any other questions, just ask them below!

AN UPDATE!
Sep. 25th, 2017 10:43 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Just to say that the Warp Pad fry out is over - the system is back online!
As far as I can tell, no trainers tagged in during the week...if you tag in later, remember to collect your 2 one-use TMs (Rest and Protect) for trying to help out.
Rockets, here's the prize pool:
Ecruteak Centre (Diana and Wrath): You each receive 20,000P bonus cash
Mahogany Town (Jack and Vanitas): You each receive 30,000P bonus cash
Blackthorn City (Jinx and Walter): You each receive 20,000P bonus cash
That wraps this up pretty much!

TEAM ROCKET BLASTS OFF!
Sep. 2nd, 2017 10:27 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
So, Team Rocket's not been doing much as of late...Let's change that. This month, Rockets are gonna be called into HQ for a special heist! The admins have been cooking up this plot and you've been chosen for the job! And other players can choose to get involved too! So, what is this heist...?
Here's the meta stuff. Rockets, please respond to the OPT-IN thread below with your character, their current location and your preferences for who they are teamed up with; remember, YOUR preference, not theirs. The Admins don't care if X doesn't like Y, they're going to suck it up and get this thing done! Locations will be fully decided once the number of teams has been revealed, but Ecruteak City, Mahogany Town and Blackthorn City are the current targets, so you can pop in if there's a location you'd like to be sent to as well. Signups are open til the 11th, just so teams can be decided and locations finalized a week before the event happens.
Trainers don't need to opt in but it would be appreciated, just so it's easier to track rewards (rewards only go to those who tag into the thread however).
Trainers, for your valiant efforts in defending the centres, you will receive two one-use TMs from the Pokemon Centre; TM17 (Protect) and TM44 (Rest). You get this regardless whether you succeeded in fending off the Rockets or not; the Joys appreciate you trying you best! And maybe these TMs can help you win the fight next time.
Additionally; the warp pads are fried! Ur, woops... The warp pad system will be offline for a week following the heist, due to TR overdoing it just a bit. Looks like you'll have to get around the old fashioned way until it's fixed!
Q: Is this a player plot?
A: Yes it is! I will be trying to host this one, so please bear with me and my inevitable doofs!
Q: Is there going to be a thread for this?
A: Yes, there will be. There'll be top levels for each location under attack, so everything can be in one spot and the comm isn't flooded with this
Q: The Rockets are gonna get away? THAT'S LAME
A: I'M SORRY I wouldn't know how to go about balancing an outright struggle like the Prom :C In this case the Rockets do get away with some Pokemon. But you can stop them from getting so many and lessen the money prize Rockets receive. And, taking part will net you those TMs!
Q: What if my character works the night shift at the Pokemon Centre??
A: Then they have the same options as trainers getting their Pokemon patched up! They can join the fight, try to keep their heads down or try to bail out.
Q: So, the warp pads are down, what's to stop my character just walking in?
A: If the Rockets don't actively cover the door...then nothing. COME ON IN Y'ALL.
Q: Does this mean cities my character passes through won't be registered as I travel?
A: Unfortunately, yes. but stepping past them once the system is back up will fix that.
Rocket specific
Q: Is participation absolutely required?
A: No no. If a Rocket member doesn't want to take part, they can either not be called up for the job or it can be handwaved that they're doing some other important Rocket duty, i.e. driving the get away car.
Q: So we can get shipped to any Pokemon Centre?
A: Yes, within the Region you are located in. HOWEVER, due to crashing the warp pads, the city you go to will not be registered for you to warp to in the future, unless you stay there for the week until the system comes back online.
Q: Do we pick our teams?
A: That depends. If people can't agree on teams, then it'll be randomized the week before. I'm not going immediately to that, since I know people want to build different CR/conflict with certain characters and such. In the story however, it's decided by the Admins, not the Rockets.
Q:: WHAT'S THIS ABOUT OUR PRIZE MONEY BEING LESS??
A: Simply put, if the Trainer's put up a good fight, you're not bringing as many Pokemon in for the glory of Team Rocket, are ya? But if the Rockets manage to keep their haul, they'll get a better bonus. Either way, it's not going to be a measly sum of money, so don't worry too much!
If there's anything I haven't covered, please please ask!
TEAM ROCKET are going to be launching raids on POKEMON CENTRES across the region, stealing strong Pokemon while they're recovering from battles! Here's the plan;
Rockets are gonna be put in groups of two or three, depending on numbers. You'll be dispatched to different Pokemon Centres across Johto; this is what the helicopters and trucks are for people. As evening falls, it's time to hit those Pokemon Centres. Once inside, your first duty is to disable the warp-pad system to prevent people from fleeing or teleporting in; any strong electric type Pokemon can work for this or a Porygon (if you do not have such a Pokemon, you'll be given a very snotty look and a device that does the job). With the pads down, it's time to act and snatch every single Pokemon in the centre! There's different ways you can do this of course; you can stay sneaky, get to the back where the Pokemon are treated and attempt to steal everything without alerting the people at the front of what's happening. You can go loud, rip off your trench coats to reveal Rocket uniforms and send your Pokemon out to cause some havoc. You can do a mix of both, you can use your Pokemon's abilities to your advantage, there's no scripted way to do this. Just do your job and get those Pokemon! Once things get too hot and you've got a nice haul, it's time to bail. Take your goods and get out to the van/chopper. If you choose, you can either dump your stolen goods in the van and hitch a ride back to Goldenrod, OR you can dump your stolen goods in the van and run off into the night so you can enjoy the city the next day. Long as they get the goods, it doesn't matter. Just don't go running right into Officer Jenny's loving arms, hm?Organization!
Here's the meta stuff. Rockets, please respond to the OPT-IN thread below with your character, their current location and your preferences for who they are teamed up with; remember, YOUR preference, not theirs. The Admins don't care if X doesn't like Y, they're going to suck it up and get this thing done! Signups are open til the 11th, just so teams can be decided and locations finalized a week before the event happens.
WAIT, what about the other trainers??
If you're not a Rocket...then you might just be in the right/wrong place, at the wrong/right time! Characters who are in the cities the Rockets attack might hear a commotion. They might even have stepped in to get their Pokemon healed or to use the PC. Either way, they can be in the building as this begins, and thus be able to fight back! Or end up losing a Pokemon or two, depending on how you want to play it out of course. Just make sure battles are discussed with the Rockets involved, and vice versa for Rockets, to determine who wins and what impact that has on the heist. Trainers can even try to pursue the escaping Rockets or take to the skies to chase the vans/helicopters with the goods! Ultimately they will get away but maybe you can knock some Pokeballs free?Trainers don't need to opt in but it would be appreciated, just so it's easier to track rewards (rewards only go to those who tag into the thread however).
So what do we get from this?
Rockets, for your excellent service, you will receive a generous paycheck depending on the number/strength of the Pokemon you obtain (amount to be calculated later) and of course, you can keep a Pokemon or two that catch your eye.
