CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks to everyone’s heroic efforts, the forest fires were put out, the Beasts are spending a little time in the metaphorical time-out corner, and Ho-Oh and Lugia have reunited (and hopefully will be working some stuff out between them)! In the wake of that miserable August, a full month of beautiful, mild weather is on its way-- isn’t it nice when Legendaries are getting along instead of bickering?

After all that excitement, everyone involved will probably want to go get a good night’s sleep unimpeded by far-off tantrum roaring, but don’t go just yet-- there’s individual prizes to be had!

IF YOU WERE AT THE BELL TOWER…
Bookworms and impromptu dancers may pick up a Rainbow Wing: a long, stunning feather from Ho-Oh’s wings, named for the many shades of red, gold, and green it shines when the sunlight hits it!

Those who keep the Rainbow Wing close may feel a sense of vigor and confidence come over them when they need it most, as if Ho-Oh itself is watching over them and encouraging them to rise up and meet whatever challenges might face them.

IF YOU WERE ON THE SEAFOAM ISLANDS…
Those plucky souls who joined the Legend Seekers will be granted a Silver Wing: a gleaming silver-white feather that smells like seasalt and deep currents.

Keeping the Silver Wing close may grant a sense of peace and meditative calm. Ironically, it might be more useful for productive study sessions than adventuring in caves! But just like with Ho-Oh’s token, holders of the Silver Wing may feel a connection with Lugia itself.

IF YOU WERE AT MT. MORTAR…
... Then you have THREE prizes to choose from, all a little more practical than mystical!

A tuft of Entei’s fur is best kept bundled up with an elastic band or a little hair tie. Rugged adventurers will find that it happens to make excellent tinder for a campfire-- even a single hair added to the pile will make the fire catch as easily as if you dumped an entire bottle of lighter fluid on there before telling your Charmeleon to Ember it!

Raikou’s whisker is a stiff, sharp hair that somehow seems to give off energy all by itself-- and it happens to be a natural charger. So never fear if your electronics manage to die on you when you’re camping in the middle of Ghost-type territory. Poking the whisker into your flashlight’s charging port will bring it back full-strength in mere seconds!

A lock of Suicune’s mane has two practical functions. One, it inspires you to start buying more shampoo in the hopes that you too could one day achieve that perfect, tangle-free glossiness. Two, dipping it gently in a small amount of water will completely purify said water, making it safe to drink.

All participating trainers will receive a prize, whether or not they interacted directly with the Legendary it came from.

And that concludes the Dog Days of Summer!

Thank you to everyone for participating, and we hope you all had a great time! We will be tagging with Ho-Oh and Lugia for awhile longer if interest persists, so if anyone is still interested in getting some Legendary interaction in, feel free to tag in and/or continue threading!

Get your "Celebelieve" signs out, trainers, because it's about to get legendary.

The massive heat-wave and subsequent thunderstorm at the end of July was apparently only a prelude-- as August progresses, it's become increasingly obvious that Entei, Raikou, and Suicune are on the loose, galloping all over kingdom come and bringing outrageous weather conditions with them, seemingly not even caring whether or not they're seen!

You don't have to be a Legend Seeker to know that this is wildly unusual for Legendary Pokemon. So yeesh, what's the deal? And how do we get them to stop?

That'll be up to the trainers to discover over the course of our August Event: The Dog Days of Summer!

TIMELINE:
  • August 7th: After increasingly bizarre fluctuations in weather, a newscast sheds some light on what's been going on: footage of the three Legendary Beasts themselves directly causing the chaos, seemingly at odds with each other. Not necessarily openly tussling, but definitely getting territorial. After the seventh, both the severity of the weather and the number of sightings increase. Maybe your character will even have a run-in with one of the Beasts themselves!

  • August 17th-23rd: Another newscast (along with a log) goes out with a development on the story-- Entei and Raikou have seemingly had enough of each other's shenanigans, and are now on two separate peaks towards the top of Mt. Mortar, roaring at each other loudly enough to be heard all across northern Johto!! Meanwhile Suicune, the scamp, is taking advantage of its siblings' argument and making absolutely everything everywhere else disgustingly moist. M O I S T.
Fortunately, new information is on the rise as well. It seems that both the Bell Tower monks and the Legend Seekers have made some discoveries they want to share... At this time, characters may choose to team up with one of three different groups tackling the problem, with a simple participation requirement. Signups will be open until the 24th!

  • August 23rd: Scrolls and caverns and fires, oh my! The secret to summoning Ho-Oh is discovered at the Bell Tower, Lugia's hiding place is stumbled across, and an immense forest fire has broken out at Mt. Mortar!

  • August 25th-30th: At long last, Ho-Oh and Lugia appear to hear everyone's Concerns.

  • August 31st: ???? WILL OUR HEROES HAVE PREVAILED? OR IS EVERYONE DOOMED TO GO TO SLEEP EVERY NIGHT LISTENING TO TWO LEGENDARIES YELL AT EACH OTHER FROM ACROSS A MOUNTAIN RANGE FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE?? CHECK OUT THE FINAL NEWS BROADCAST AND CONCLUDING POST TO FIND OUT!
